Hi all,
I am planning to apply for Round 1 of the Jan 2026 intake and would love a
profile review and some advices related to GMAT score.
I am 30yrs old French male, with a B.B.A in hotel and resort management from top school in the field, GPA of 3.51/4.00. I have a strong international background, having studied and worked in few countries in Asia and USA throughout the last 10 years. Leadership experience includes high level position in luxury hotels managing big operational teams (300+ employees).
I am planning to take my GMAT next week but worry about my quant score. I have taken three practice test (result as below). Would a below 80 quant score deny my chance for application? Or would an application with strong essay make up for this.

Hi
manu9 ! Thanks for sharing your profile. Your profile stands out with good international experience, leadership in luxury hospitality, and academic background. However, your GMAT score, especially the quant section, could be a significant hurdle. While your GPA (3.51/4.00) from a top hospitality school and leadership managing 300+ employees demonstrate strong credentials, your GMAT quant score remains significantly below competitive levels for top programs. Given that most leading business schools expect quant scores above the 60-80th percentile, improving this area can be crucial. Your verbal strength is a plus, but a 615 total GMAT score may limit options at top schools. It is highly advisable to retake the GMAT with a focus on improving the quant section or explore the GRE as an alternative if enhancing your quant score proves challenging. Some schools also allow candidates to demonstrate quantitative skills through work experience or additional coursework, which could help mitigate concerns. Additionally, a well-crafted optional essay explaining your quantitative strengths in a business setting (financial analysis, data-driven decision-making, budgeting, etc.) can further strengthen your case. Depending on your final GMAT score, a strategic school selection approach will be important, balancing reach and realistic options. With a strong application, compelling career goals, and a good GMAT score, you can maximize your chances of securing a spot in a top MBA program, as we have seen
one of our applicants who got offers from NUS and INSEAD with a 640 GMAT. We would love to learn more about your profile in detail, to assess how well you can showcase compelling stories from your experience and determine your best-fit schools. Prepare well and all the very best for your GMAT exam.
