I heard that accommodation in Singapore is a little difficult as they do not let short term leases. Does anyone know about this?

Welcome to Singapore!

Am from Singapore so can help shed some light on the private rental market.

usually minimum rental would be 6 months.. so if you're starting in Singapore won't be too difficult.
Moreover if you are looking at accommodation around INSEAD, most of the landlords are used to renting out to students, so am sure they have already taken such tenancy into consideration.

The flip side is that the area is also hotly contested by students from other schools such as NUS.

Better start early :)

Let me know if I can help!

Long time reader, first time poster.

R4 applicant here, I have also been WL yesterday :(
Tough break...

A few questions:

- Why is INSEAD wait-listing applicants in Round 4? I mean realistically what are the odds of getting in? All first 3 rounds must have paid their deposit already so very unlikely they drop out. Hence our only hope is that one of the R4 successful applicants doesn't accept the offer?
- What happen if a spot doesn't free up for us? Are we being rejected or deferred or encourage to reapply next year or any of the above depending on our profile?
- What's the best strategy to get off the wait-list and get accepted? Any advice?

I want to remain positive but... :?

Hey I'm a R4 applicant. INSEAD offered me a seat for the Jan 2018 class last week, in case you need to update the stats :)

However, I've been offered a job offer that I'm tempted to take, and thinking about deferring INSEAD .. has anyone on the group ever deferred successfully? I heard it's pretty difficult to do so...

Yea, minimum lease contract is usually 6 months. But I know some property managers who can do monthly. PM me if you need help! (I live in Singapore right now)

Hi elmz02 - what evidence have you gathered that it is difficult to defer? I am working with someone on this right now. Spoke with a colleague of mine from Aringo and he said he's had the opposite experience. One guy didn't even offer a reason and it was granted. Not challenging you but genuinely interested in what you heard/observed.

Some applicants are still waitisted by Insead for January '18 intake. It is already novemeber, what is the adcom thinking? Also, a friend pinged adcom and they said they are still evaluating and they will do full justice to all the applicants and asked to wait a little longer. Anybody else who is still waitlisted for the january intake?

You're not alone - I know of 5 other candidates still on the WL.

I also received a similar email asking if I would like to keep my profile activated for further review. I was also asked that I would consider taking a seat in Aug intake if that is possible? Did anyone else also got the same email?

@procman it means the last day you could accept a seat. Basically their deadline for offering you a seat.
