Schools generally dont provide confirmations by themselves. It should mostly be okay. You can write to them to allay any doubts

hey guys, is their a way by which i can connect with isb alum. from a family business backgrounf
Linkedin is a good source for starters. You can always filter people with similar pre MBA backgrounds. A linkedin premium subscription might come in handy

Dear Shashankrawat,

Dear Shashankrawat,
Thank you for sharing your profile.
I am an ISB alum, CO14, and have guided with multiple applicants with similar Marine Engineering / Indian Navy / Merchant Navy background get into MBA programs in India (ISB and IIM Exec progs) and globally (INSEAD, IMD etc.).
GMAT: You should target a score more than 690.
Academics: Above Average; the post grad diploma adds value to your candidature.
Work Experience: As a marine engineer, you will need to showcase the following:
• Understanding of global supply chain operations
• Know-how of industries –ex. O&G – in case you were part of Oil Tankers.
• Promotions you have received – from TME to 4th Engineer to 3rd Engineer etc.
• Ability to handle crisis situations and mitigate risks.
• Interactions with a multinational crew resulting in cultural exposure.
• Mental toughness – you had to stay away from family and at times in very harsh conditions.
• Operational effectiveness – as you had to ensure highest levels of uptime for the machines you were put in charge of.
While Business schools – ISB, IIM Exec MBA from India, and global programs such as INSEAD, MIT Sloan, NUS, IMD would give you a good exposure to supply chains and operations management, to develop more in depth understanding of the shipping industry itself (port management), you will need to take up a more specialized MBA in Port and Shipping Management. In the short term, you should consider a general MBA for horizontal growth and specialized MBA from vertical growth.
Do make a note that over the last 5-6 years, a greater number of people from the Marine industry are applying to global MBA programs, and hence the competition is increasing by the year. You will need to come up with compelling stories from your personal and professional career to create a differentiated candidature. You will also need to provide logical arguments as to you think you require a MBA at this juncture of your career.
Please feel free to reach out to me in case you need more guidance.
Cheers and Best of luck.

If you are not being able to select a date or it is showing no date to be available in that month then that means that no more dates are available for that month

Do slots get added kind of on rolling basis, or there is no chance of getting an appointment now?

Hi everyone.

If I have an option of Darden VS ISB, which one should I choose and Why?

What are my chances of getting a scholarship with 770 GMAT, work-ex at Citi but a average 6.8 undergrad GPA from NIT?

It depends on where you want to work and live long term. Both are good schools.

If you mean a month before application deadlines then I don’t think it’s good idea. You need time with your essays and other aspects of application. Also in case you don’t get desired score you need to give that buffer time for reappearing for exam.

But given the immigration policies and Visa Issues, it seems one might have to come back in the near future even if I want to work in US. Considering the Indian growth story, the decision becomes difficult. But can ISB get you the same opportunities in terms of Industry and function changes?

Asking that question in ISB chat might have a response Bias but ISB is by far one of the best schools, no school has seen such a growth in such short time since inception. That said, ISB will fetch you limitless opportunities as an Indian. But if you’re looking from an international standpoint- Darden is a great school in USA, with a consistent alumni base, not to forget the case based learning at Darden is rather unique. HBS and Darden cases are different themselves in their own way.
