Does ISB ’like’ reapplicants?

I was rejected during round 2. But want to reapply, so just want to know I’ll have a better chance

Reapplicants do get admission. I don't believe that reapplicants have a better shot compared to a first-time applicant; rather their applications are scrutinized bit more on the extent to which they have overcome the reasons for rejection in the earlier attempt, and how it has been portrayed in the reapplicant essay. Ofcourse, the usual data points, work ex, GMAT, essays, GPA, etc. also need to be on point, to compete with the new applicant pool.

Give it another shot in R1! Try making the controllable aspects of your application as good as you can. Good luck!

Hey, hope all is well. I believe what really will make a difference will be your 3rd Essay, the re-applicant essay. The school would want to see 2-3 tangible changes to your candidature over the last admissions cycle. It can be anything - a job switch, a senior/different role within the same org, cultivating a hobby, having a passion project, or learning a new skill/language. Whatever it is, flesh it out really well in the 3rd essay. Definitely makes a difference when re-applicants are being evaluated. Thanks and all the best!

ritwikkg reapplicant evaluations work differently at different business schools.

I would not say that most business schools scrutinize re-applicants more than first-timers. The schools do not change their admission criteria based on the number of attempts. However, the schools will check whether the re-applicant has tried to overcome the shortcomings that led to the previous rejection. How well you identify the shortcomings will depend on your understanding of a school's selection criteria.

As a re-applicant at ISB, you should try to get candid feedback on your previous application and interview experience from an expert. Without that, you will be shooting in the dark without any focus. I say this because ISB has a fairly transparent selection criteria, so identifying what did not work in your favor for someone who understands ISB admissions will not be difficult.

In my experience, looking at these factors can help you get a fair evaluation at ISB as a reapplicant-
1. Academics and GMAT/GRE (do not ignore your undergrad marks) That can become a ground for rejection too
2. Career progression (did you do justice explaining your career growth in your last application)
3. Goals strategy (perhaps the most common reason for rejection at ISB) you can read more here
Fail-proof strategy for acing that ISB Interview|
Avoid these pitfalls in goals essays
4. Below average recommendation (The Secret Sauce for Outstanding Letters of Recommendation)

5. You could be at the extremes of ISB's target segment in terms of age or experience. You may be too old and not a good fit for a dynamic cohort or too young/inexperienced. For example, Only ~8% of ISB's class is above 30 years of age, therefore you will have to demonstrate the right qualities and personality to be considered for the ISB PGP.

Feel free to get in touch for a profile evaluation or ding analysis.

ISB loves reapplicants, and for a reason: For instance, in your case, a GMAT score of 760 would perhaps have made you a good candidate for numerous schools world-wide.

But the very fact that you decided to wait an entire year and reapply to ISB, gives ISB an indication that ISB is not just one of the numerous other schools that you are interested in. Which school will not love such students?

Which is the best admission consultant for ISB?
Hey,

I have been working with Manan Puri from Strategy4GMAT (S4G) for the past year now.

It’s been a great experience, they are very helpful and have some real good practices which can help you prepare for ISB applications and interviews.

Last year, I could get through ISB by myself. Which is Manan’s feedback has really helped in building my profile as a reapplicant.

It’s him who gave me confidence and made my mind to give GRE another shot. And it’s great to know that I scored 333 this time.

I definitely recommend Manan Puri and entire team. It’s worth noting that the team themselves are ISB alumnus which is a cheery on top.
