Hi guys, does ISB accept focus edition?
No official information has been received so far regarding acceptance of GMAT Focus scores. Obviously, GMAT Focus will not be acceptable in R1 as testing has not been started yet.

Hi,

You have good acads and a good GMAT score to go with it. Work experience is quite consistent, the initial period of 6 months before the first shift could be a slight grey area, but that's also ok, because you did an internship there, so its actually a year. Awards and achievements are also impactful. So wouldn't point out any significant areas of concern. Your goal of becoming a product manager is also fine, depends on how you have prepared for it and how you plan to navigate the path. Things look good facts-wise. Focus on putting up a strong story through your essays and your application.

All the best!

Surprising that you didn't consider it important to mention either your college name or your discipline. These things do matter you know :).

Any reason you left PayTM within 6 months?

Things look quite decent otherwise. Goal (Product manager) does align with your past experiences; make sure you have a coherent story around the need for ISB to help you reach your goal.

I am From Thapar university computer science branch batch of 2021. I left paytm for 2 main reasons - first as paytm stock got listed it fell very hard which created panic and most of my team were switching - second it was my dream to work with groww as i am an stock investor on their platform from start wanted to combine my job and passion

Your college as well as your branch are worthy enough to be objects of envy for many people :).

Wondering why you didn't reveal them earlier :? .

rakshitttt, good profile overall. Some points from an initial assessment:

1. Academics and GMAT are fine, hope the GMAT Q&V split is balanced too.

2. Professional arc is interesting involving some well-known Indian companies, and post-MBA goals are aligned. Target sector and function are clear, would suggest having clarity on your target companies post MBA, especially if these recruit from ISB. Also have a clear rationale as to why Product Management e.g. have you worked with PMs in your job(s), are there specific parts of the role that interest you, any traits that make you believe you can be a great PM, transferrable skills, etc.

3. ECs are strong, and offer good talking points in the essays, particularly your interest in stock market, sports and appreciation from the Gov. Strong anecdotes and learnings/ takeaways from ECs can differentiate your profile

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out for a deeper discussion.

SigmaAvi, good acads given the IIT pedigree, and target GMAT score seems fine. For the Post MBA goal, would suggest having a clear plan A and plan B, with target sector, function, geo and company, and a rationale as to why you would like to transition, and why/ how an MBA and particularly ISB can help.

A couple of questions before giving some more feedback:

1. How was the professional arc at Barclays: any promotions and/ or increase in responsibilities?
2. Any recent involvement in ECs, post your college days? Perhaps something to highlight within your interest areas: music, writing etc.?

Hi rakshitttt hope you are doing well.

Decent acads but otherwise what you mentioned is very surface level. You may have been in an individual contributor role all through, but now you have an opportunity to reflect back and show how you tried to understand the impact of your work on the team and company objectives. Demonstrating a first-principles mindset and interest in understanding the business implications of your tasks and actions can help you stand out during the very competitive admissions cycle.

Schools view your promotions and increasing job responsibilities with your current or former employer as a sign of your potential. You want to show your development over the years. Therefore, list your accomplishments and job responsibilities giving appropriate bandwidth to learnings, responsibilities, and achievements under each role. Point out what additional responsibilities, you have taken on year after year or project after project. You need to unpack your experiences and reconstruct your stories in a way that shows that working on high-impact projects has given you much more hands-on experience and opportunity to engage with leaders from the industry, more experiential maturity, and more capability to contextualize business problems.

Your goals are reasonable, however, showcasing a meaning beyond immediate objectives (of money and success) can help you stand out. What would you like to do in the long term? Remember, your goals can also be motivational.
Your GMAT is decent. You must now work hard to put forward a strong application and stellar interview performance.

Personalized advice tailored to your specific situation is just a phone call or message away. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need help navigating your unique circumstances in the B School admissions process.

Hi SigmaAvi

hope you are doing great

Many positives, especially solid academic record, prestigious pedigree, and progressive awards at your employer.

To show that you are a good fit for ISB, you need to show how you have made incremental career progression over the last ~3 years at Barclays. Use anecdotes from your professional life to demonstrate your leadership skills. Show how you motivated teams, drove projects, achieved desired results, resolved conflicts with persuasion, influenced management decisions with keen observations and insights, and added value to your team and the organization as a whole. Highlight your willingness to take action and conscientious decision-making skills.

You have a variety of activities, awards, and accomplishments to show for it. It is best to focus on more recent engagements to show consistency and sustained efforts to develop a well-rounded profile.

The GMAT will be critical to your overall application. Admissions committees will evaluate your performance along with that of your peers (from your population group) using a normalized curve. For example, a Q49 score (~75th percentile) is considered borderline for overrepresented demographic groups at top business schools. If your quantitative score is near this value or you exceed this threshold, the admissions committee is confident that you can handle ISB's academically challenging curriculum.
Your verbal score is more likely to reflect your ability to participate in discussions in a truly global and diverse group at ISB.

Personalized advice tailored to your specific situation is just a phone call or message away. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need help navigating your unique circumstances in the B School admissions process.

7-10 days before deadline so that there is enough time for the official scores to get reported from GMAC. However, even if you have taken the GMAT but the scores havent been reported, you can send an email to ISB ad com stating your GMAT Id and unofficial scorecard
