Your academic background is impressive, and with your strong performance in undergrad, a GMAT score of 665+ would put you in a good position for ISB. That said, aiming for a 675+ could further bolster your chances, especially given the competitive nature of the program. Could you also clarify which college in DU you attended? It would help frame your academic journey even better.

It would be helpful to understand the nature of the wealth or asset management work you’ve done. Specifically, what types of financial instruments were you advising on, and what was the scale of the assets under management? Detailing the impact you had on these portfolios could significantly enhance the narrative of your professional experience.

Your profile already has strong foundations, but remember, how you present it will be key to making a lasting impression. If you need further insights or assistance, feel free to reach out.

If you’re looking for just proofreading essays without any brainstorming on what needs to go there, then you’re better off using grammarly and chatgpt. Any good consultant adds value not just around how good the language is but majorly on giving and helping you develop perspectives about your journey!

Ideally, chat with a consultant/alum friend/senior etc at the brainstorming stage to first discuss what needs to go in there and then get to reviews ideally with those folks only.

Well, as anyone would tell you, there is no such thing as a perfectly safe score (except 805 perhaps).

A 665+, along with a meticulously crafted application, stands in with a decent chance of fetching an interview call Kairavshahh.

A 665 GMAT FE would be the median, as it translates to 720 on the old scale. That said, there is—and likely never will be—a truly "safe" score for top B-schools. While GMAT is an important part of the application, ISB places equal emphasis on your work experience, essays, prior academics, and extracurriculars.

If you score 665 or above and meet the other criteria, it’s a safe score in the sense that it probably won’t be an eliminating factor.

Hope that answers your question.

Hi Please evaluate my profile
Grade 10th: 90% ICSE
Grade 12th: 92.5% Overall CBSE
Graduation -BBA (Hons) OP Jindal 2018-2021- 7.83/8 CGPA
GMAT Score (FE): 595 (Q-82, V-80, DI-76)
I recently gave my GMAT FE and did not score the score i was expecting (i got even a lower score than what i used to get in mocks)

Worked experience: 2.5 years:
I have worked in a leadership role, I have done 360 degree HR wherein I have handled all the aspects of HR.
I have worked in a printing and packaging company and a performance marketing agency.
I do have some experience in social media and UGC marketing
I was working on the same in my previous agency in the HR role (since it was an agency I have taken part in different roles)

EC:
I have played for various IPSCs in Football
Have taken part football states (U-19) and was also selected for nationals (Oorja CAPF’s 2017)
I have played for football nationals, Manipur 2014
I also undertook teaching for Deaf and Dumb as my SUPW in school
I have also been a part of the Digipivot cohort organized by ISB and Unilever 2023
Have been a part of many committees in college like Peer Support, was the Gen sec of the Marketing club
Was the student rep for my batch in college (Placement Cell)
Along with some of my seniors we undertook a social service society wherein we would teach the college helpers kids and plan activities for them
Was awarded the All Rounder student in 2018 and was a part of the dean’s list as well

Why MBA:
I’m torn between 2 things actually
I do want to explore the analytics side of HR but I’m also very interested in pursuing Marketing since I feel I enjoy that so an MBA with a focus on either of these areas could be a great way for me to develop the skills I need. Additionally, meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and with different perspectives during the program would be incredibly valuable. It would broaden my understanding and help me approach problems and opportunities from multiple angles. (Just to add I do not know any language but am eager to learn)

Please help me as to whether applying to ISB with this score is a good idea or if should I prepare again and apply for the R2 deadline

Thanks a lot

You’ve highlighted some strong aspects, but there are a few areas that might need attention to strengthen your application.

Firstly, regarding your GMAT score of 595 (which corresponds to around 650 on the old scale), this is below the average for most competitive programs. While it’s possible for candidates with similar scores to get shortlisted for interviews, this typically requires either a stronger work experience or unique achievements that offset the lower score. Given your relatively limited work experience, this may pose a challenge.

Additionally, your stated reasons for pursuing an MBA, particularly in HR Analytics, might not align well with what many recruiters are currently seeking. HR Analytics is an emerging field but remains niche and less prominent. Given your background in marketing, you might want to consider refocusing your goals towards marketing, where you already have some experience. This could align better with the opportunities available post-MBA and make your application more compelling.

I would also recommend retaking the GMAT if you feel confident about achieving a higher score. A better score would significantly improve your chances of admission across a broader range of programs.
Feel free to reach out in case of any further doubts.
