Hi, I am applying for the R1 of ISB this month and wanted to understanding if there is any potential impact on your chance if you opt for a virtual interview instead of in-person.

As part of my job, I am required to travel international every month and with the uncertainty of interview dates, I am thinking of opting for a virtual interview.

In case if anyone is aware, please let me know

No direct impact even if you opt for Virtual option. For some candidates it is easier to communicate their POV in-person as the body language is clearly evident and if required they can be scribbled and explain stuff to the panel easily. Other than that, there is no direct impact as such

Hi, I need some advice.

I was planning to apply for ISB in Round 1 but I only scored 615 (V83, Q83, DI76). I have 4 years of experience in Software development in a product based company. I have 9.8 CGPA in 10th, 91% in 12th but only 7.1 CGPA in Undergrad (Civil Engeneering).

I feel like I can improve a lot in DI, but I am not sure. Chances of getting in ISB is the most in Round 1 and if I retake Gmat that means I will be applying in Round 2.

Should I retake Gmat and apply in Round 2 or Do I have a shot in Round 1?
Retake the GMAT and apply in R2 with a higher score.

Hi, I’m looking for a profile evaluation.

10th: CGPA 9.4
12th: 90%
B.Com (Panjab University): 80%
GMAT FE: 585

Working as an Associate at KPMG and have an additionally one of year of working with a startup.

ECs: I have been a active part of the NGO’s right from my high school.

I know that the GMAT score is on the lower end.

Want to now the spike needed for R2 and chances of converting ISB.
Would recommend you to retake GMAT and get a higher score before R2 deadline. Difficult to add any other spike in next 2-3 months

Hi Wonderful People,

I plan to apply to ISB this year, but it seems like I would not make it to R1. I have yet to take my GMAT, and I am still prepping for a strong score (upwards of 695+)

Profile:
5 YoE
Grad from IIT Kanpur
CGPA: 7.43
12th: 92%
10th: 94%

Few questions below
  1. What score should I target to be absolutely sure to get it? (or also consider M7/ T15)
  2. What do you suggest which of the remaining rounds would be best to target at ?
  3. Is it true that the admission /committee gives equal weightage irrespective of the round a person applies to?
  4. What timelines should I look at have an
    1. Official GMAT score
    2. Essays written & proof read
Many thanks to all who can guide here with any feedback or advise. Hope to give back to community in the future!

Cheers!
Would love to know more details about your work-ex for better evaluation. As you are already targeting for a score of 695+, if you are able to achieve that, it should be good enough for all B-Schools. Please plan your exam in a manner that enables you to apply in R2 to the B-Schools of your choice. Have at least 3-4 target schools shortlisted and start with the applications early so that you can gradually make progress by R2 deadlines. For a more detailed conversation, feel free to reach out to Preppie (https://www.preppie.in)

Hello everyone, can anyone please evaluate my profile for admission chances at top 3 IIMs or ISB

10th= 94%
12th= 80%
BTech= 9.27 CGPA (NIT Patna)

GFE score= 625

Work ex= 9yrs in an oil PSU

During my college days, took the initiative to establish and co-found the student chapter of a reputed international professional society. Also, led the team representing my college for the first time at an international level vehicle design and speed competition and ended among Top 3 teams of the competition. As the General Secy of the student chapter was instrumental in organising a number of activities, workshops, seminars etc in the college.

While at college, I had also volunteered for teaching children living in slums nearby college premises.

In my professional journey till date, I have worked in 3 different roles at 4 different locations within India. Have received 3 progressions during the 9 years at my company. Was instrumental in implementation of flagship schemes of GOI in the most rural and tribal areas of the country. Have received recognition from the company for increasing digital reach among the customers and also for increasing profitability in commercial sales. Currently leading a team of 45 channel partners and have worked with more than 130 channel partners during my last 7 years experience in sales which has enriched my experience of working with and managing people with different dispositions, culture, age, financial capability, education, demography etc.

Have contributed multiple times in achieving All india highest volumes, profits and allied sales for my territory, sales area and channel partners with whom I have worked with.

I am fond of painting and and like writing on abstract topics concerning an individual or society
While GMAT score is on the lower end, rest of the profile is really strong - From academics to work-ex to extracurricular. Generally PSU Ops experience is well respected one at both ISB and IIMs. Do you think that if you re-take the GMAT, you’ll be able to get 645+ before R2 deadline? If yes, I would recommend you to do that because that would almost make getting an interview call a certainty. Please reach out to Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed conversation about your application strategy

Good overall profile. Is 2 years work-ex by Mar 2025? Target a score of 655+ to improve your chances. Scholarship is definitely possible in R2 as well. You can always reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed conversation/guidance

Hey there, trust you all doing great

I’m here for profile evaluation

I’m Chartered Accountant having 2.5 years PQE

I work at KPMG in financial audit department
I got job offer from MNC with CTC of 20LPA

I’m also CFA level 2 candidate

I wanted to do MBA from top 15 Business schools in the world

Im targeting GMAT score of atleast 750 in FE

If I get 750 or above , what are my chances getting admission with full tution waiver??
GMAT score of at least 750 in FE? You meant classic? Full tuition waiver would depend on your overall profile, not just the GMAT score. But if the score is exceptionally high, it does increase your chances by quite a bit

Opting for a virtual interview instead of an in-person one for the ISB does not negatively impact your chances of admission.

Unfortunately, this is not the only caveat schat103. You GMAT score is another.

Please rework on your GMAT to get at least 30+ point jump and apply to R2.

I only scored 615 (V83, Q83, DI76).

Chances of getting in ISB is the most in Round 1 and if I retake Gmat that means I will be applying in Round 2.
You really need to rework on your GMAT vibhanshu21, since 615 is not going to take you places.

Score of 750 on GMAT? You might be referring to the old/classical GMAT Ndanags.

GMAT has now changed. A score of 705 is the new 750.

Which branch did you graduate in dtxgmat? Where do you work?

665+ on GMAT would give you a fighting chance at ISB, though at no score can you be absolutely sure; profile matters; interview matters.

You might find the following article useful?

Which round of ISB has best chances of admission

You can appear in GMAT even one day before the application deadline. Ideally you should keep a minium of 2-3 weeks for essays.

schat103 The only dent is the GMAT score. Consider retaking your GMAT and applying in r2 with a competitive score. Good luck

Hey, kindly review my profile

10th ICSE : 87.8%
12th State : 95.1%
BTech Mechanical, NIT Raipur - 88.7% ( Rank 9 out of 100+)
GMAT score 675 (730 old gmat equivalent) - Q90, V79, D81

Held multiple positions at NIT Raipur, Placement coordinator, Teaching volunteer at NGO, manager for BEV project, Core-coordinator for MEA team etc. Good enough awards in some competitions during college. Internships at IIMA, TVS, DRDO & IIT B and part of research paper published on "Women in economic academia", working during IIMA internship.

Working with TVS Motor Company in EV R&D 2-wheeler space for past 4 years now. Filed 3 IDF patents in EV technology space during the course of work. Started journey as Graduate engineer trainee (GET), then took up senior engineer role and got promoted to Assistant manager 6 months back.

1) Filed 3 IDF patents in EV technology space during the course of work.

2) Led a low cost variant project, acting as a product lead along with stake holder management. This variant now comprises of more than 50% of the total 2W EV sales of TVS amounting to ~300 million$ revenue within 4 months of launch.

3) Led a team for Gen3 EV Powertrain calibration & complete vehicle level validation for all 5 variants/ projects of iQUBE - Popular EV platform of TVS brought in 20% improvement in system efficiency amounting to ~250 million$ sales

Alongside, NGO repeated activities partnering with Teach For India for last 6 months.

Pursued a product management course at GGI for 6 months as GGI impact fellow and have a consulting research white paper.

Having said briefly about my profile, I would like to transition to product management space leveraging my experience in EV automotive industry.

2 questions :

1) Chances of getting an admit & scholarship ( of course no one can guarantee and it depends)
2) How tough or easy is to convince the admission team through essays/ interview for getting into product space after having good enough R&D automotive experience.
