Hi, I am preparing for ISB PGP R1 admission cycle and am a re-applicant. Do i have any shot of getting an interview call and an admit?
GMAT FE : 715
B-Tech(RV College, Bangalore) : 9cgpa
12th : 93%
10th : 9.6 cgpa
Work-Ex : 3.5 years (Software developer at Bosch)
Activities : IEEE Paper publication, Technical competition 2nd place at university, college project converted to DRDO internship, Academic scholarships at university

No significant improvements apart from a 10 day workshop in London for work. I am worried this will significantly affect my chances of not getting a call or invite
I had applied with GMAT FE score of 655 in R2 last year, but did not even get called for an interview

Vasavan - Given that you've improved your GMAT score by 60 points, the chances of an interview call this year are higher, provided the application essays are strong.

Kindly reach out to ISB Vasavan, to see if Adcom can give provide you the reason(s) for your rejection last year.

This would also help you in the reapplicant essay.

Good luck!

1) Try reaching out to adcom on LinkedIn. It may lead to a quicker response, 2) Try getting your last year’s application reviewed from different people to identify areas of improvement, 3) Your improved score gives you a good chance this year. As others have mentioned, you still need to diligently work on your application. From limited information, your profile seems good.

Hi, I had applied last year to Isb but my gmat score never reached me on time. Due to this my application wasn’t submitted. So if I apply this year, am I reapplicant or just a new applicant?
And can I use my essays for this year’s application since it was never submitted? Thanks in advance!

Technically, if your application was never submitted or reviewed, you’re not considered a reapplicant. You should be able to apply as a fresh applicant this year.

@NS0212 : You will be considered as a first time applicant. However you might want to check as to why the scores didn’t reach on time. Also I am assuming that was R3.

As far using the same essays are concerned, the topics for this year are very different from that of last year. So in all practical purposes you can’t use the same versions as is. Please go through the below video to get a sensor of the essay topics of this year

Thank you for your reply. Yes I was applying R3 and the delay was unanswered by the center and GMAC rep.

So I’ll look into that new topics and prep accordingly. Thanks for the information!

Hello everyone,

I am currently working in a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and have 3.5 years of work experience. I am planning to apply to the Indian School of Business (ISB) and would appreciate an evaluation of my chances based on the following academic and professional background (assuming a GMAT score of 720):

Work Experience: 3.5 years in a PSU

Undergraduate: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, CGPA: 7.5/10

Class XII: 86%

Class X: 90%

I would be grateful for your insights regarding my profile’s competitiveness for ISB, and any suggestions to further strengthen my application.

Thank you!

Hi SAHIL619, Assuming the GMAT score that you have mentioned and the marks in X, XII and under graduation, the profile looks competitive.

But the profile is much more than these. We will need to know which PSU you work for and what is your role there. What are some of the good things you have accomplished there? Are there any extra curricular worth mentioning?

But in general, reasonable chance with the scores that you have mentioned.

Hi! Thanks a lot for the insights. My current role at Indegene very closely matches what most t1 mbas do. I do a lot of internal strategy work- pipeline and revenue forecasting, FY target setting and investment prioritisation work. Does this kind of a role give me an edge, and what’s the right way to put fwd to the ad com that to grow in a similar role I would need an mba? Looking fwd to your feedback
Provided you come up with specific & relevant anecdotes related to the strategy, finance and investments, it can definitely make your application stronger. As part of your learnings, you must have encountered situations that highlight some gaps in your skill set or exposure which is holding you back from getting to the next level. If you can articulate that gap properly and explain why ISB PGP can help you cross that bridge, it would make for a logical narrative. Always happy to have a detailed chat at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in)

Given you received an interview invite in R3, you already did a lot of things right. If you are diligently working on the specific feedback given by the school regarding your profile, application and interviews then that should give you enough pointers to demonstrate improvement when you apply this year. In case, you wish to discuss an particular aspect in more detail, feel free to book a free consultation with ISB alums at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in)

Good academics and decent extracurriculars. Your background in the healthcare and medical device domain aligns well with the majors in BioMedical Engineering. It would be crucial for you to connect your background with the post-MBA goals and be clear about how ISB can help you with the same. Target 675+ in GMAT. Wishing you the very best!

Hi everyone, I need some help with a profile evaluation 🤞. Here are my details:
- 10th: 96% (Aligarh Muslim University)
- 12th: 85% (Aligarh Muslim University)
- BE (Mechanical Engineering) with a minor in Finance from BITS Pilani
• CGPA: 8.1
• Internship at Deutsche Bank
• Cleared CFA Level 1
- Work Experience: 3+ years across 3 companies
• Started as a Business Analyst at a gaming company - 1 year
• Became founding team member of another gaming startup (eventually shut down) - 8 months
• Currently working at an audio entertainment company for 1.5 years. Joined as Product Analyst, promoted to Senior Product Analyst

• Gave it twice, but won’t be able to improve further due to low Verbal score
- Additional experience:
• Volunteered with CRY (NGO) for 2+ years
• Running a side startup with 10K+ installs on the app
• Held multiple leadership roles in college (like department representative, etc.)

Looking to understand:
1. What are my chances for the programs?
2. Any areas where I can improve to strengthen my profile?

Thanks in advance!
Decent academics. Below average GMAT score considering ~3 year tenured cohort but it is a good thing that you have clarity that you want to go ahead with 645. In that case, it becomes extremely critical for you to have a coherent and logical narrative that ties your work-ex, post MBA PM aspirations and the role that ISB can play to help you get there. Also, it is imperative for you to showcase your extracurriculars and additional experiences creatively to make your profile stand out. As others have mentioned, 645 should not deter you from applying but it definitely puts the onus on rest of the application being really strong. If you want to brainstorm any aspects of your narrative with an ISB alum, give us a buzz at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in)

Hello Everyone, I need guidance with a profile evaluation. Here are my details:
-10th: 89% (CBSE)
-12th: 84.8% (CBSE)
-BE (Information Technology) from PEC, Chandigarh (2012 passout); CGPA - 9.33
-2012-14 - UPSC preparation
-2015-16 - SBI PO
-2016-2020 - Assistant Section Officer in Ministry of Corporate Affairs (dealing with all e-governance initiatives in the ministry)
-2020-till date - Audit Officer in CAG (posted at Bengaluru; dealing with Karnataka Law& Order and Judiciary Departments) - Credited with exposing fraud worth Rs. 2.7 crores ; Did a exhaustive performance audit of Direct Benefits transfer scheme implementation in Karnataka govt

GMAT FE: 645

Other Aspects:
Exhausted all 6 upsc attempts (5 mains and 3 interviews)
awarded best employee in SBI Jammu region for insurance campaign
awarded Digital award by GoI for successful implementation of MCA 21 portal
performed twice election duty as presiding officer with voters around 2800 in the polling booth.
conducted 10+ trainings for pan india attache offices for various e-governance portals.

Main reason to pursue MBA at this point of career/age is to upskill and move to the private sector where there is more exposure and freedom to better opportunities
Decent academics. GMAT score of 645 should be okay for you, given the quality and tenure of your experience. From the details you have mentioned, I’m sure you would have a lot of unique anecdotes and experiences to cover in your application. Just be more clear and specific about why MBA and your post MBA goals - what is the kind of work you would want to pursue post MBA, what do you need to upskill in order to achieve that goal, how can ISB help you with that exposure/upskilling. As long as your narrative is clearly understandable, you have a pretty good chance of getting an interview invite. Wishing you the best! If you wish to jam on ideas for the application, we have experienced ISB alums always available for the same at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in)

My profile:
Male candidate.
10th - 10CGPA
12th - CBSE 94.6% (does isb give weight to school marks?)
College - Bits Pilani, Computer Science. CGPA 8.18
Work experience - working at Microsoft as a software engineer since 2021.
Will be aound 4 years during the R1 applications.
GMAT - 675 attempt 1, 775 attempt 2.
Some extra curriculars in college - NSS, placement cell, teaching assistant for two years. None with leadership roles.

Should I expect a scholarship at ISB? Would also like to understand my chances at an M7 admit as an Indian male software profile, with a good GMAT score.
Absolutely stellar! Just focus on crafting a strong application and you can be almost certain to get an interview invite. Apply to some good international schools as well (M7 & others) depending on which schools can help you achieve the long-term career trajectory. Scholarship chances are also strong with this profile. All the best!

vivek829
My profile
male candidate
10- CBSE - 8.4 chap
12- CBSE - 95%
Then 3 years family business
College- Martin Luther uni (Germany) - bachelors business economics - grade 2.2/5 (1,0 being best )
Work experience- Part time 4 years during college - PWC

Language fluency - English, Hindi, German, French

Extras - quant project, option modeling , ecb internship, participated in various trading projects , research assistants in Chair of Finance , uni Frankfurt
I see some unique components here especially with respect to international exposure. However, the nature of your work, family business, post MBA goals doesn’t quite come out clearly for me to do a proper assessment.

Profile evaluation

I am a 29 M lawyer and i don’t have very stellar profile academically. I want to understand whether i have a chance for ISB ?

X: 85 percent CBSE
XII : 64 percent CBSE
UG : BA LLB (HONS); 2.55/7 GPA from National Law University top 5 in India ( got distinction in 7 subjects)

I was elected leader of Student Bar Association and got scholarship for a research paper by the government.

The moment i left law school covid happened so I had to leave my Job and i started preparing of Government legal jobs.

I didn’t found success in those but since i gained enough knowledge during preparation to reintegrate in the market I took a job in a major law prep institute in Bihar. That job clicked with me i quickly rose in ranks there and taught and mentored more than 1500 students with amazing results I was consistently ranked the best educator and I started to create reels, you tube videos and created an upward momentum in their digital presence. I worked their for 2 years.

I switched to law again i opened my own legal consultancy I have successfully handled refinance mainly in renewable energy deals.

My simple ask Do i stand a chance and please i am ready for uncomfortable truth.
Thanks in Advance.
Scores are on the lower side. You will need to make sure that your career trajectory and choices/decisions through that journey come out very clearly in the application. At the moment, there are bits and pieces but I don’t see a solid narrative. Not clear on your post MBA goals as well. Lot would depend on getting a high GMAT score as well. Try to add some more dimensions related to extracurriculars if possible. All the best!

Vasavan
Can anyone please let me know if my profile is good enough? Also, I am a reapplicant and did not have significant milestones since last attempt since i had applied for the 1st time only a few months back. Will this not give me any chance?

GMAT : 715 (had applied with 655 for 1st time)
B-Tech : 9 cgpa(RV College of Engineering)
12th : 93%
Working as test automation engineering at Bosch for 4 years.
As already recommended, it would be prudent to get direct feedback from the school and showcase improvement in those aspects as a re-applicant. Also, if I understand correctly, you have managed to increase your GMAT score to 715 from 655 when you applied last year. If that’s the case, you already have a quantifiable improvement in one important aspect of the application.

RishabhUpadhyay
Hey folks! Would really appreciate if you could help evaluate my profile:

10th: 8.6 CGPA
12th: 82.2%
B.Tech: 8.4 CGPA
GMAT FE: 655

Work ex: ~4 years
• 2.5 yrs at ZS Associates in data strategy consulting for global pharma clients
• Last 1.5 yrs at a pharma startup consulting firm
There is an intense competition every year from ZSers or ex-ZSers applying to ISB. You should consider improving your GMAT score to at least 675+. Also, bring in more aspects related to your hobbies/extracurriculars to your application in order to showcase your uniqueness to the school. Wishing you the best. You can always reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) to discuss any application aspects in more detail with ISB alums
