You do have some strong elements in your profile, but I wouldn’t call this an easy admit profile for either. It can go either way depending on how you position it.

The best part of your profile is honestly the business you built. A lot of IT applicants have certifications, client work, stakeholder management etc. That part alone won’t make you stand out. Building a Pvt Ltd company from scratch with stable turnover, despite no business background, is what gives your profile a real edge. If explained properly, this can become your biggest talking point.

Your work at is solid, but I’ll be direct here, “worked with stakeholders” and cloud/ops exposure is something ISB sees a lot. You will need to show actual impact, ownership, problems solved, scale handled, promotions, difficult situations managed etc. Otherwise it risks looking like a standard IT profile.

Now the weak spots:
- 12th marks (66%) is definitely a weak point. Not a dealbreaker, but it is below what many ISB applicants have. You’ll want to compensate for this.
- engineer + male + IT is a crowded bucket. So average execution in essays/interview usually doesn’t work.
- Right now your profile story feels slightly scattered: IT job + startup + hospitality + NGO + teaching. Good experiences individually, but unless tied together well, admissions teams may struggle to understand your core story.

One thing I would think through carefully is your post-MBA goal. If it is generic consulting, it may not land strongly. But if you position it around enterprise tech + business building + operations/strategy, it becomes much more believable.

GMAT Focus target: 685+

Strong GMAT + a clean story can genuinely change how this profile is viewed.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. You have a very interesting profile for ISB. The strongest part of your profile is the mix of corporate experience and entrepreneurship. Working at Accenture while also building and running your own company shows initiative, ownership, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities at the same time.

I think the entrepreneurial side of your journey will stand out the most, especially because you built the business without a family business background and are already working with international clients.

A few things I’d think more about:
1. Why MBA now?
2. What are your long-term goals after ISB?
3. Do you want to continue entrepreneurship or move into leadership roles in tech/consulting?

I think you have a profile with good depth and strong experiences. The next step is really about putting together a clear story around your journey, your business, and where you want to go next.

Work Experience:
• Currently working at UBS (an investment bank) Domain: Current: Valuations (Strategic Investments and Private Equity), ex-Financial Reporting / Entity Control

• Prior experience in teaching finance, accounting, costing and taxation for grads and under grads across multiple colleges as full time and visiting faculty

• Total work experience: 4.5 years by 2027 intake

This is not coming out clearly AkshayMetha.

Out of total of 4.5 years, how much was as a faculty and how much has been in UBS?

Also, any reason to pivot from a faculty position to valuations? That seems like quite a drastic career transition.
