enimmolestias Hi! A seemingly good profile. Good undergrad pedigree and academics. From the adcoms’ point of view, there is one thing that you would need to focus on. Seven years is a long time to be in one company. They would want to understand what kept you motivated for so long. Were you constantly getting to work on new challenges and getting opportunities to progress and take on incremental responsibilities? They will also sharply look for any signs suggesting that you became complacent within the comfort zone of a familiar environment. Would you be able to take risks post MBA?
How you address this point could become a make or break factor in the admissions process. The functional differentiation seems to be there if your focus has been in ESG areas. But in my view, a profile evaluation is incomplete if I do not know what your post MBA goals are. The entirety of your profile has to be seen in light of your future plans. Happy to say more should you add your goals.

Hi AkshayMetha hope you are doing great. Your work experience looks decent and you have a solid finance background. I am going to throw some light on what the admissions committees will want to know. You already have all the tools, the knowledge, as well as relevant work experience for the kind of roles you are looking at post MBA. Then why do you need an MBA? Why are you not able to get relevant roles in the direction you are seeking?
Most CAs who do not get through do not understand that this is an absolutely critical part of the application. The tricky part is that when you say there are not that many opportunities for you without an MBA, even as a CA with such good work experience, you again risk being seen as someone who is unable to hack growth on their own. And top schools want go-getters.
So please be very mindful when you work on your rationale for an MBA. You may find this old post of mine somewhat useful:
