Schools are generally somewhat critical when applicants want to pursue a second MBA without a meaningful shift in either domain (broadly speaking) or geography. So you need to think carefully about why exactly you need a PGP from ISB at this stage.
One thing I would strongly suggest is to avoid an overly lamenting tone in the application, one that indirectly suggests you have been unable to create career growth on your own (along the lines of bashing your 1st MBA and praising ISB). With a PGPM already behind you, the B schools will expect that you already possess the foundational skills and thinking required to pivot into adjacent strategy roles, at least at a base level, if you position yourself well enough and pursue the opportunities intentionally. Your work experience is actually good and quite relevant to the current product led economy. So the stronger application narrative would probably revolve around why this next step is strategically necessary for the scale, exposure or direction of career you want to build, rather than portraying the MBA as a rescue mechanism.
Feel free to speak one to one should you want to discuss your thought process in more detail.

Best wishes

What is the objective behind a profile evaluation when you have not even mentioned your goals post PGP? What exactly do you want to achieve? For example, if you say you want to get into private equity, then honestly the feedback would probably be that your profile is currently neither suitable nor particularly impressive for that path. But for technically oriented progressive roles in business, yes, you may still stand a reasonable chance. Right now you are speaking almost entirely in technical jargon, which gives the impression that you have a fairly limited understanding of your work’s impact on the broader business objectives of the company or your division. You need to understand who your audience is and who you are trying to appeal to.
The adcoms are looking for signals in your application and communication that show business acumen, commercial maturity and the ability to shoulder responsibilities for future employers with sharpness and judgment. If you are only going to talk about your tech stack and cloud certifications without meaningfully hinting toward what kinds of business problems you can help companies solve, then as of now you are far behind in the race. Your undergrad pedigree is decent, so please put genuine effort into narrative shaping for the application and interviews. That skill alone will carry you very far in your post MBA career. You should not come across as someone who can be replaced by any other software developer.

Feel free to discuss your MBA plan personally

Best wishes

ISB is not really the place to make very sharp pivots. In fact, most one year MBA programs will see such goals as risky and will look for signs in your past where you have made similar risky career moves and succeeded.

What can help you?

If you are genuinely keen on moving into the PE/VC space, then why not first target analyst level positions, maybe even equity research or related backend investing roles, where you can at least demonstrate that you have developed a grasp of the fundamentals of these ecosystems. Even then, it is not easy to move into PE/VC simply because of the sheer selectivity of the space and the highly network driven nature of these opportunities. Try looking for meaningful and intentional opportunities such as internships at boutique investment firms or a chance to work in corporate development teams(M&A type) in entry level roles which are rare but relatively less difficult to break into. Maybe even look at pre MBA strategy or founder's office kind of roles.

You may also read through my older post to understand how you could strategically prepare yourself
Should you want to discuss more holistic career options, feel free to set up a one to one discussion.

@ WA@hrv3616 Hi! A seemingly good start to your career with that stint at Honda Japan. Were you based in Japan for that duration? That would really help you position yourself strategically.
You also seem to be progressing well within the same/peripheral auto and UAS space. Do not lose that edge, although you need to bring much more clarity around the kind of roles you want to target post MBA, and then equally research why an MBA/PGP is genuinely important to catapult you into the most rewarding positions within your area of interest. For the application, bring out the best experiences you have lived through because of this exposure in your field, and speak intelligently about your observations regarding the gaps and potential opportunities that exist in this space.
Your GRE is low, so yes, please either improve that or attempt the GMAT with a 695+ target.

Feel free to discuss your MBA plan

prepapr very strong work profile. You will rank very high in post MBA/PGP employability. You will do just fine with any score upwards of 665 (I do not say this easily), if you talk intelligently in your application and interview and bring out other unique aspects of your personality in addition to your work exp. I work with healthcare professionals/ pharma consultants/ doctors every year so feel free to speak for guidance.

PGP most definitely. 7 years is absolutely Ok. I had a lot of people in my cohort who got great opportunities with 7 + years of experience. Do note that companies like Amazon come for certain roles where eligibility criteria is 5+ years of experience.

It’s an absolutely good idea to target PGP instead of PGPPro as PGP provides placement assistance.

If you want to know the experience of a girl with 7 years experience who has joined ISB and dropped IIM-B EPGP (even after paying initial 4 lacs)

PGP makes more sense than PGPPro if you’re looking for a structured placement process. Beyond that, the right choice depends on factors such as your current career trajectory and what you expect to gain from the MBA.

enimmolestias - strong academics. Which company/ companies have you worked in, and how has the progression been (e.g. were the promotions fast-tracked)? Also, any extracurriculars?

A 675-685+ GMAT will help position your profile well. All the best!

Hi enimmolestias,

You have a strong academic profile overall. It would help to know more about your work experience to evaluate your profile better. Also, have you thought about your post-MBA goals and career direction?

A GMAT score in the range of 665–675 should keep you competitive for ISB as well as the top IIM one-year MBA programs.

All the Best!

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

• Total work experience: 4.5 years by 2027 intake

Extra-curriculars & Other Engagements:
• Consistent Contribution to students' education and development, Consistent guest faculty since last 3 years for an NPO which works across 20+ states
• Designed and Conducted mentorship bootcamp (pilot project initiative in collaboration with same NGO)
• Built CA practice with 40+ clients in last 3 years with services in accounting, tax and cross border transaction advisory

Post-MBA Goals:
• Looking to transition into strategy consulting / finance consulting / leadership roles for business decisions using my skills, knowledge and experience in finance
• In a longer run, social interest in leveraging my experience across finance domains for bridging gap in academia and industry

Target (2027 Intake): ISB (primary) and IIM (secondary)

Would appreciate your thoughts on:

A range of GMAT Focus Edition score in form Min-Ideal-Safe score for interview calls

How strong and credible my post-MBA narrative appears for these programs

Any gaps or areas I should strengthen before applying

Thank you in advance!🙏
Small correction: you are targeting for full time MBA not executive MBA.

This is a strong and differentiated profile for ISB and IIM one year MBAs

Things in your favor: Excellent academics overall + CA in 1st attempt, Strong brand in UBS with relevant finance exposure (valuations, PE, strategic investments), BDO articleship adds consulting/tax depth, Teaching + mentorship gives leadership and communication angle, Running a CA practice with 40+ clients is a major differentiator

Only watchout:
- At ~4.5 years experience, you will be on the younger side for IIM 1-year MBAs where avg experience is higher.

GMAT Focus target: 675+

Post-MBA narrative:
Your story is credible if positioned as:
finance execution → strategic finance / valuations → consulting & business decision making → long-term impact in finance education

Avoid sounding like a generic “want consulting” candidate. Your niche is finance + valuations + advisory + education impact.

NidhiYad Why would it not be? Last year one of my mentees went to ISB with 14+ years of experience and got 50% tuition waiver.

There is no universally correct timing in that sense. You need to think about whether you have reached a point where the PGP meaningfully bridges the gap between where you are today and the kind of opportunities, responsibilities, or ecosystem you ultimately want access to.

Is it a good idea to target ISB PGP with 7 years of work ex? How is PGP pro compared to PGP? Is PGP worth it at 6-7 years of experience?
