Just got my interview assignment. I live in Chicago and submitted on 12/14.

I might be alone on this one, but I would recommend that you call first. It seems like Kellogg puts a strong emphasis on interpersonal skills and I think it shows a little bit of confidence to make a 'live' call as the initial contact.

If you get voicemail, leave a message, and say you'll follow up with an email and that they can contact you in whichever way is most convenient for them.

Do people typically call or email their alumni interviewer? I'd prefer email but don't want to break protocol.

My interview invite email specifically said "CALL". So I did...

Mine does as well, but I thought I had heard most people refer to emailing their interviewers.

Yeah I emailed. Odd...

Hopefully that's fine because I emailed a couple hours ago.

I'm sure it is, the minor points of the application process seem to be SO subjective.

BTW, does Kellogg still interview pretty much everyone who apply?

I got an interview invite and was wondering if that really means anything in terms of my chances of being accepted.

About 90% get interviewed. The remaining 10% get interview waivers, but can still be accepted or get a later interview. So no, getting an interview doesn't tell you much.

I got an earlier mail stating interview waiver but now my application status reads following:

"ll the required elements of your application are complete.

If your interview has been completed, the application has been submitted for review to the admissions committee. If your interview has not been conducted, the application will be submitted to the admissions committee upon completion of the interview. The next status check update will be the admission decision (Admit, Waitlist or Deny). When a decision has been rendered, the Office of Admissions will send you an email notifying you to check your status for your decision. Decisions will be released throughout the round, but the majority of decisions will be released during the last several weeks of the round
."

Confusing :(

You have to get an interview to get in. So if you get a waiver you have to be offered an interview before you can be admitted. As far as I have always known 100% of accepted applicants are interviewed.

I stand corrected.

I visited Kellogg on Thursday and interviewed on Friday. Here is my experience: https://www.clearadmit.com/wiki/index.php?title=KelloggInterview

Kellogg students were a lot of fun, very relaxed. Most of the talk revolved around clubs, social activities and KWEST. This school is perfect for social bees. The building wasn't as bad as I had imagined!

And now we wait...

Are you the one with a weird tie? Just kidding, I was there myself yesterday, we probably met.

My interview was pretty good (at least I think it was). It was with an adcom (I didn't see a second year interviewing yesterday). Mostly from the standard set of questions and lasted for around 35-40 mnts overall. Now the official waiting begins!

Do you think it makes a difference to interview with alum or adcom?

In terms of which is weighted more, or more likely to help you get accepted? No.

In terms of your interview experience? Possibly. Adcom members have a lot more experience with the interview process and know what to ask and how to rank you relative to other applicants. An alum may only do a few interviews a year so their experience level and perspective on applicants may be a little limited. Plus I'd say you're a lot more likely to get a weirdo alum than you are a weirdo adcom member. Then again an adcom member is probably on a pretty strict 30-45 minute schedule, while an alum isn't on a strict timeline. All three of my alum interviews so far have stretched beyond an hour, and not because things got tense or uncomfortable. I think a longer interview has its benefits if you've got a lot of good stuff to say.

I have been sitting on an interview waiver for a couple of weeks now (Submitted Part 1: 12/13; Part 2: 1/1). I am sure there's a ton of people in the same position but I cant help but wonder by what date should start to worry if I dont have an interview invite by then.
