Based on last year's R2 and this year's R1 timelines, admits could start to hear results as of March 6 or so, with admit offers trickling out for a few weeks after that. I wouldn't expect to hear anything in 2 weeks--just because your interview may be done doesn't mean a lot. AdCom will still have to compare your package against a few thousand others so pretty much everyone is going to fall into the "maybe" pile until they get a better feel for the strength of the applicant pool.

Is there usually an initial burst of decisions and then a trickle until the end? Or are there more decisions towards the end?

My recommendations were submitted yesterday even though my application was submitted before the 11 Jan deadline. I hope Kellogg doesnt move my application to the 3rd round! Yikes!

Both of them? That seems really really late - what happened?

No, not both. One recommendation submitted by 15 Jan. The person submitting my recommendation was travelling a lot. In fact I had to call him finally to remind him to submit the recommendation.

I'm not sure how Kellogg's process works, but my status still says "We have received Part I of application. After Part II of your application has been submitted and reviewed....." I suppose if they haven't yet checked your application, they might not care or notice that your recommendation was late. I would consider calling to confirm.

I visited Kellogg on Thursday and interviewed on Friday. Here is my experience: https://www.clearadmit.com/wiki/index.php?title=KelloggInterview

Kellogg students were a lot of fun, very relaxed. Most of the talk revolved around clubs, social activities and KWEST. This school is perfect for social bees. The building wasn't as bad as I had imagined!

And now we wait...

Are you the one with a weird tie? Just kidding, I was there myself yesterday, we probably met.

My interview was pretty good (at least I think it was). It was with an adcom (I didn't see a second year interviewing yesterday). Mostly from the standard set of questions and lasted for around 35-40 mnts overall. Now the official waiting begins!

Ha ha, did you really see someone with a weird tie? I interviewed at 9:00 am and was the dude with longish hair; it's winter, I snowboard, and interestingly it came up during the interview while we were just chatting.

Do you think it makes a difference to interview with alum or adcom?

In terms of which is weighted more, or more likely to help you get accepted? No.

In terms of your interview experience? Possibly. Adcom members have a lot more experience with the interview process and know what to ask and how to rank you relative to other applicants. An alum may only do a few interviews a year so their experience level and perspective on applicants may be a little limited. Plus I'd say you're a lot more likely to get a weirdo alum than you are a weirdo adcom member. Then again an adcom member is probably on a pretty strict 30-45 minute schedule, while an alum isn't on a strict timeline. All three of my alum interviews so far have stretched beyond an hour, and not because things got tense or uncomfortable. I think a longer interview has its benefits if you've got a lot of good stuff to say.

I felt a lot more relaxed with an alum at a Starbucks than with adcom on-campus. I suppose it depends on the kind of person you are.

w103psp, I know I saw you there. I was visiting, and I think we think talked. How funny.

I totally agree that Kellogg comes across as an expensive social club. It was all about KWEST, clubs, and friends. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I really feel like everyone only conveyed about half of the experience. Basically no one referenced what the academic experience was like.

Hmm, I did talk to a couple of students who were pursuing HEMA and those discussions were very specific to academics and the healthcare club. But overall yes, you're right, they sold the school more on fun...and I think I'll fit in perfectly!

Deepak, I had an interview waiver but just got a telephone interview request. I suppose this is with the adcom.
Not sure what this means. I take it you also go a waiver and then a telephone interview request.

Congratulations on the interview invite. My application went complete yesterday ("All the required elements of your application are complete...."). So sitting tight now and hoping that I will hear from them once they have reviewed my application.

SMH, firstly congrats and all the best for your interview. When did your application went complete. I'm trying to figure out approximately how many days it takes from application complete to an interview call.

Thanks! Its a lot of luck and I think comes down to a numbers game also.
I never got an email stating when it went complete. But I guess this was in the last couple of weeks as I had checked my status prior to today. My waiver was received on Jan 7th and the interview invite came in today.

It is just 2 days away! And my calendar is extremely packed on that day!
Wondering if the Adcom will allow me to delay it by a couple of days.... and if it will affect my chances?

same here........I dont think you should have an issue with asking for a different date......Good luck Shankar.

Meanwhile, on reviewing the email that I got ".............You are invited to complete the interview requirement of your application by scheduling a phone interview for this Thursday February 3, 2011........"

I dont think this request has come in after a review of our files.....because this typically happens in early March (i.e all files are reviewed by then!).....so I guess, they have simply waived the "waiver" and have decided to continue off campus interviews via phone calls instead of alumni invites...too early to read anything out of this invite.

I have been sitting on an interview waiver for a couple of weeks now (Submitted Part 1: 12/13; Part 2: 1/1). I am sure there's a ton of people in the same position but I cant help but wonder by what date should start to worry if I dont have an interview invite by then.

Am in the same boat.

I see a few people above having received interview invites after initially being waived. It'll be great if you all can share your stats, including present country of residence. Am from India, and am wondering if Indian applicants have started receiving invites after waivers.

Thanks a lot!

Mandy

I was just invited to a women's event in NYC for Kellogg. The thing is, I'm a male... My application had "Male" as gender, and as far as I know, I probably wouldn't be mixed for a woman during my interview either lol. Did anyone else get this? Should I just ignore it, or attend a potentially very awkward reception? I never visited Kellogg before, so maybe that's why they're emailing?

I've gotten auto-invites to women's events (and events for demographics I'm definitely not part of) at several schools--the email wasn't sent to you specifically, it probably went out on auto-blast to everyone who has applied or even registered to apply.
