Hey everyone, I had my off-campus interview today. I posted the questions on ClearAdmit (#93)
https://www.clearadmit.com/wiki/index.ph ... gInterview

I thought the interview went well, though I would've liked to have answered a couple of questions differently. Oh well, it's behind me now. We'll see what Nov/Dec brings.

Good luck to everyone!

Generally, the answer would be no. That said, I think you have a special circumstance since you're from out of the country. Give the admissions office a call.

More than the pool of applicants I guess the location of applicant plays a bigger role in interview waivers.

@thedarkland....are you a 1Y or 2Y applicant? I am also indian and have applied for R1 1Y program, does the choice of program make any difference to when the invites are sent? trying to think of all possible reasons of why I haven't heard from them yet :(

does anyone have an idea when will they inform if you are "not" invited to an interview or to be blunt.... dinged :(

Me too! I had my off-campus interview yesterday and it went really well. The interviewer really made me feel comfortable and I'm so glad that this was the way I started off my interview season. I hear the HBS one is more confrontational so I'm a bit nervous about that one.

Oh and I realized that I never really threw my name in on the list of people applying here. I'm in for Round 1.

Thanks, wiredo. I have mine tomorrow and this is a big help. Glad to hear you thought it went well. You say you wished some answers went differently... what through you off the most?

Unfortunately my senses only allow me to predict events not outcomes ............. :)

That said, your future looks bright. How bright I hear you ask? That's completely up to you .........

Thanks, wiredo. I have mine tomorrow and this is a big help. Glad to hear you thought it went well. You say you wished some answers went differently... what through you off the most?

The questions were actually straightforward, i think. The follow up questions on my leadership style were along the lines of how it has evolved, why I perceive influence as more important than authority (my answer to how my leadership style's evolved), and what kind of manager I see myself as if I had authority included in my role (I currently don't).

It's not that these questions were difficult, just that some of my answers weren't as crisp as I'd have liked. My answers to the other questions had more substance and flow. From his comments towards the end, I think he pictured me as a focused individual who knows what I want at/from Kellogg and why. One suggestion he made is that while I'm focused, I should also keep an open mind about b-school and try things I wouldn't otherwise get an opportunity to.

Good luck, uprightcitizen. Hope you nail it tomorrow!

Thanks wiredo - you guys will be the first to hear tomorrow when I get back.

I am applying for the 1Y program... and it looks like there's only one other doing that in R1 on the roll call. Anyone else in that boat? I have heard such conflicting opinions about the 1Y programs at colleges... some people say they are more competitive admissions-wise, others much less.

BU, for example, has a 1Y program with a GMAT average that is about 60 points less than its 2Y (as well as a lower GPA average and less work experience). I wish Kellogg gave a little more information about the 1Y admissions statistics. Anyone have any opinions/information on it? Purely from an admissions-standpoint (I know people have their opinions on whether it is a "good idea" or not to go for only 1Y).

Nevermind. Google helped me answer my own question...

"Excellent question! Actually, the test scores and the GPAs for our three programs are equivalent, but there are fewer places in the one-year program. Fortunately, most candidates self-select for that program, because they're required to have an undergraduate business degree or the equivalent, earned within the last five years. Consequently, it isn't more or less difficult to get into the various programs -- they're fairly equal."
