I just found out one of my colleagues was admitted to Kellogg 1-Y program in R1...

Though I applied the 2-Y program, does that mean I have little chance if adcom does not want the similar background again???

1-Y admissions is different from 2-Y admissions, so the pools are evaluated separately. Do not worry about having a similar background to another candidate. There are a ton of admits that not only work for the same company but also do the same job. I ran into several colleagues at admitted students weekend and we all have similar professional backgrounds. However, all of us have different post MBA goals. It's not like every individual a school admits has to be 100% unique in terms of WE, background, goals, etc.

So calm your nerves and don't over think this. It's not that deep.

Thanks for your clarification. Keep my finger crossed.

BTW: Will the admit call start next next Tue on March 20, one day before the Booth notification date like in R1?

I have no idea. There's not a specific day when calls will definitely start. I doubt the decision notification timing is in any way influenced by Booth's notification date. They just simply tend to coincide. Good luck.

Hi Vibhav,

Thank you. But I think good or bad will it depend on the final result. Profile is 740-5 years start up/digital marketing experience. Interview went okay. Fingers crossed for the final result

Do the calls begin tomorrow?

It looks like in 2011 calls began two weeks before the decision date for both rounds 1 and 2. In round 2 of this year, calls began only a week before, so who knows.

I know it's finals week this week so to the extent they use students to make the calls, it may be more likely they start next week. That is complete speculation though.

Students do not make the calls. The adcom does.

Thanks, that makes sense. Am I correct that in R1 calls started 7 days before the decision deadline in R1 of this year? I'm basing that off of a quick browse through this thread.

There were random/unconfirmed reports of a call or two about 10-12 days prior to the decision deadline. However, the first reported call on GC was the on the 12, 7 days prior to the R1 deadline day.

Do they announce through phone calls or email or a mixture of both?

Also wondering, R1 admits - if u are based off-US, how many interviews do you have.
Some alumni told me some people have 2 interviews(1 by alumni in the country itself and 1 phone interview by adcom)

Hey ss87,

I am a off US (India) based Round 1 admit and as per my knowledge International candidates have only one interview, which is most probably conducted by an alum.

Haven't yet heard of an international candidate giving two interviews yet.

Admit calls are a mixture of both phone and emails, however if your reside in a country where is a significant time difference between their time and urs then the probability is higher of an admit notification via email.

BTW both r equally rewarding ;)
