What matters for recommenders is that how closely they worked with you and can champion your candidature. I choose closeness with recommender than seniority level. I choose one from professional sphere and one from my extra curriculars sphere

Kellogg is very specific about who to choose. They value team players and that needs to reflect in your app. Like i said, low ego high impact matters

Hi @AmulyaGuptaMakam Thanks so much for doing this and congrats on your admit. I have one specific question. How important do you think it is to be known to the adcoms. I understand there is a general advice, about showing your face in the sessions hosted by the admissions teams of the schools. But, How important do you think it is, and did you take this step for the schools you got admitted to?

My kellogg interview was with an Alum who graduated in 1987. We started off with introductions and then moved on to behavioral questions. She probed further for every question
I think this is what was unique for kellogg. They try to go deeper and understand the WHY of things.

I didnt have video essay questions for kellogg. It was only after u submit application that we got 3 video impromptu questions.

Although, i had prepared a video essay for Haas. The way i did it was to brainstorm ideas, prep my essay content and then rehearse how i say it
It was a bit challenging as its so weird to speak to a screen. So just practise a couple times before your final take

Do you have any tips about how to prepare or for what should I be prepared in this kind of event?

Hi @AmulyaGuptaMakam, I am still in college, planning to apply for the future leaders program! My question is slightly different, after having 9 years of work experience would you say you felt like professionally you were at a stale spot hence the MBA? Also, what do you think differentiated you, like I get the low ego high impact theme, but was there a certain project/experience/vibe with the interviewer? or something you mentioned in your essays?

I dont think adcoms need to know you prior. It a committee that decides your outcome and its not possible to know who is on that committee and interact with all

Do your research on kellogg.

I was not at a stale spot but I wanted to move towards the strategy side of things. I felt an MBA made sense for me at this point of time. My interviewer was very senior. She completed her MBA before i was even born. I guess we had a very professional vibe throughout the interview though she was very attentive, empathetic and encouraging throughout.

It took tremendous effort to polish my professional journey and also prep for my MBA applications. I had previously applied to a TOP MBA indian school and was rejected so I had my fair share of rejection. However, I believe my persistence paid off and my zeal to better myself.

I was a project manager in Microsoft and also launched India wide initiatives for women. I showed how impactful were my efforts for broader community.

May be Haas or Fuqua.

A common theme was that I chose schools that were super collaborative and supportive which is my vibe. Its very essential to resonate with school culture.

Did you get a chance to negotiate with fees of the college? Any scholarship awarded at Kellogg?
