They say you can spot a Kellogg student from a mile away because they are usually leading a team but letting everyone else take the credit. Let’s see if that stereotype holds up.

If you are aiming for the Kellogg MBA or MMM dual degree for the 2027 intake, this is your signal to stop overthinking your application alone in a dark room.

From KWEST trips to human-centred design sprints in the Global Hub, the Kellogg experience is entirely student led. Let’s start leading early. Use this post to find application buddies, swap essay feedback, and network before day one.

Sound off in the comments:
  1. The Goal: Full-Time MBA or MMM?
  2. The Status: Polishing essays, cramming for tests, or just manifesting an acceptance letter?

Help us understand your journey by articulating your motivations for pursuing an MBA, the specific goals you aim to achieve, and why you believe now is the right moment. Moreover, share why you feel Kellogg is best suited to serve as a catalyst for your career aspirations and what you will contribute to our community of lifelong learners during your time here. (450 words)

Essay 2: Kellogg leaders are primed to tackle challenges everywhere, from the boardroom to their neighbourhoods. Describe a specific professional experience where you had to make a difficult decision. Reflecting on this experience, identify the values that guided your decision-making process and how it impacted your leadership style. (450 words)

Reapplicants: How have you grown or changed personally and professionally since you previously applied and what steps have you taken to become the strongest candidate you can be? (250 words)

Additional Information: We know that life is full of extenuating circumstances. Whether you want to explain gaps in work experience, your choice of recommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance or something else, you can use this section to briefly tell us anything we need to know about your application. (280 words)

Video Essays: We’ve read your essays, we’ve read your resume — now we want you to bring all that to life in a video. Show us the person behind all those carefully crafted words. The video will be comprised of three questions, each designed to help you showcase your personality and share some of the experiences that brought you here today.

Hi, I am an Indian Applicant
I had a query about my startup founding experience.
I started a startup between 2024 and 2025. It failed and had to stop operations at the beginning of 2026. Since I was working at the same time, I registered the startup (a C Corp) in my father’s name.
* Should I mention this experience in my application?
* How does Kellogg verify this?

@sunny3897 if you were working full-time and doing start-up on the side, its up to you to mention it or not. If you think you can highlight good learnings and show grit, determination, resilience from startup experience, then you can talk about it in the application.

Hey guys
Has the kellogg 1Y program explicitly mentioned somewhere the prerequisite courses that needs to be completed? If not, what is the process to understand the eligibility?
Yes, Kellogg does explicitly state the prerequisites for the 1Y program. Here’s the full picture:

**The 4 Required Prerequisite Courses**

You need college-level coursework (grade of B or better) in these four areas:

1. **Statistics** — must be completed before the summer quarter starts
2. **Economics** — must be completed before the summer quarter starts
3. **Marketing** — can be completed at Kellogg during the summer quarter
4. **Operations** — can be completed at Kellogg during the summer quarter

**Important Fine Print**

Your transcript graduation date must be within 10 years of your application. AP high school courses do NOT count (even with a perfect score), and work experience, CFA certifications, and online courses are NOT accepted as substitutes. Kellogg does offer virtual pre-approved course options if you haven’t completed these yet.

Also, for a course to count, it must have been taken within the last ten years and the student must have achieved a grade of B or better.

**How to Check Your Eligibility**

Before you apply, fill out **Kellogg’s Eligibility Form** at `admissions.kellogg.northwestern.edu/register/1Y-AO` so they can verify your prerequisite status. Give them about a week to evaluate. If you have questions, you can reach out to Kellogg’s admissions team directly.

**Bottom Line**

You don’t need all four courses done before *applying* — just before *enrolling*. So if you’re missing Marketing or Operations, you can plan to take those during Kellogg’s summer quarter. Stats and Econ, however, need to be done beforehand.

the gmatclub article on Kellogg MBA Essay Analysis mentioned "reducing the written requirement to one main essay and increasing the video component from three to five short responses" and a video essay section. I don’t see that video essay section in my application, just the career goals short answers and main essay that they mention. Am I missing something?
