My dad is friends with a prominent Kellogg alum and I heard from him (through her) that it's basically over - they had a ton of people accept round 3 offers and they are oversubscribed.

That corresponds to what I've heard from current students as well. I don't understand why they've kept so many people on the WL if there are basically no spots to fill.

Sorry to say that, but the folks on the WL are the school's safety choices. Just like how you had safety schools to apply to.

Sorry to say this, but that's a bit toolish - particularly coming from someone with an M.

It's regrettable that it came across that way to you. If you've followed my post history, I've always reached out to help people with their queries. I was merely answering CPAtoMBA00's question. Why does the school keep people on the waitlist? They need to manage the risk of accepted candidates deciding to enrol elsewhere. Same as why you apply to multiple schools when you can only attend one.

Don't take it personally.

Thanks for the explanation. Its just that I think everyone understands why there's a waitlist. I interpreted that poster's question to be about why so many and for so long. But no offense taken. Good luck at Kellogg.

Thank you. It would be a case of the school's initial expectations vs reality then - if it's to be believed, the school has done an amazing job improving yield this year, hence not many move off the WL. Anyway, there are cases of people not turning up on day 1 (Classes don't start till 2 weeks later anyway). I hate to be a purveyor of false hope, but it's not over till it's over.

Don't mean to be pessimistic here, but I don't think it's gonna happen anymore...
