I’d recommend Viren Sood[https://www.linkedin.com/in/virensood/], try out him, see if the conversation with him aligns with your goals and then consider moving forward, worth a shot. The guy’s honest and will tell about your chances if the school is within reach or not.

Not trying to promote him, but being honest with you all 😅

Dk about others but my experience with Lilacbuds has been good so far. Whether it is regular session or essay draft, journey has been good.
Also I can just see lot of interview invites and admits in past 2 months itself

I really don’t know why people pay for consultants tbh. Odd to me…. But then I understand not everyone wants to put in the required effort on essays and their resume. Cause that’s only thing these guys will do for you (if they even do it well anyway).

With the advent of AI, Reddit and google (to search for resources), anyone will be able to put forward a good application.

But then if you have the money and not the time, avoid the cheap consultants.
I have to disagree with you. Consultants do not write the essays for you, they provide their experience on what works and what doesnt. And moreover, its more to do with the mental satisfaction that someone else is overlooking your work and providing you the right inputs. But the efforts are all yours

PS i am not a consultant xD

*my two cents*

Partially agree with you. It’s the same thing as joining JEE or NEET coaching. Without the required efforts you won’t get anywhere even with consultant. But with the right ones you mat increase your chances of getting in even by 1%. And also the point being one won’t waste a lot time on resources when they actually should be working on application.
Then bigger issue here is applicants want someone to do everything for them without doing even the basic research about program or college.

So you know, each method has its own pros and cons. 😅

it’s fine, to each their own. Just go for the best anyway,,,, have seen people around me use Consultants and honestly, nothing spectacular those consultants do that you can’t do. All the information anyone needs is on the net, if they can put the effort.

Nobody will treat your application like you. I understand there are exceptions and some really add value. But they are very few…
I think its the same as a CEO using a consulting company to back their decisions. Because if it fails then then they know that it was reviewed by the SME as well and it wasnt just their decision (or lack of) that caused it.

Quote:

I completely disagree with you on this

I use a consultant and she didn’t write for me but gave a direction to my essay that AI won’t give you. Atleast for the top schools you need that authenticity which AI can be bland and lose your voice.

I will say if you need support to really present a strong application and you can afford a good consultant that’s affordable please do.

Don’t go for the very expensive ones. There are great independent ones lurking around on Reddit. I engaged with one and I can I got value for my money. I got 3 M7s (GSB inclusive) invite and I can say the consultant was a changer for me.

It might be expensive but if you can afford it please do if you know you need all the support you need to put your best foot forward. I know folks also recommend ApplicantLab which is also cheap.

Can you submit a great application without a consultant ? Sure yes.

Do I recommend one if you can afford one? Yes. Just pay for the hourly service

I can see that this thread is buzzing, which is great. However, a bit of unsolicited for Indian Males - the ~65% admission conversion rate post interview does not really apply for you. It is much lower. Please temper your expectations accordingly.

Hi everyone! Does anyone know if there's a Ross resume template? (Like Johnson)

Ross does not have a template for the resume. Just create an impactful resume that shows quantified achievements. Recently I have seen some really off resumes that were submitted in R1 apps, so I will make a short note here of what you should do/ not do:

1. Have 3-4 sections in the resume - Professional experience, Education, Additional Information. If you have substantial leadership or global experiences and want to highlight those, you may have a separate section for them. In the Education section- add your college leadership experience and achievements. In the additional info section, add all you ECAs since college or those ECAs which were not part of college.
2. Write every bullet point with quantified impact. Follow this for bullet points in every section including Education and additional information.
3. As a general rule of thumb, do not mention internships. Also leave out technical skills or details about research papers.
4. Lastly, make sure your resume highlights some of the the skills and experiences relevant for your career goals.
