My transcript was not sealed and it was accepted without questions. I also saw other interviewees handing in unsealed transcripts. Hope this helps.

Actually, when I got my invite, I did not have a sealed transcript and I emailed the admissions office. They said that I DID need to have a sealed transcript and that if I could not get one in time that I could have one mailed to the admissions office. I would definitely get a sealed one. You could always e-mail the admissions office to double check yourself, too.

completely true. again, paying attention to these details makes a huge difference - i.e., you should have ordered your transcript when you submitted your app if you thought it would take a long time, and if you didn't, immediately email them after receiving the invite.

the app instructions state that they need an official copy - and this isn't unique to sloan.

but, sloan is a school that tracks whether you send your interviewer a thank you card, so don't miss any details with them.

oh crap! I sent a thank you e-mail (bc I figured they'd read it much sooner) does that count??

I think internationals are fine with sending emails. The interviewer is going to submit the report days if not weeks before they receive a card. Unless you pay 100 bucks to overnight it.

the interviewer won't know by the time they submit their report, but rod/the committee will have it populated in your file by the time they go to make their decision.

Haha, how is the weather in BFE-- I mean, BFG this time of year? :)

I had the same idea. My wife and I went out and bought a box of 10 thank you cards (in case my handwriting's too messy, I'll have a few extra) so I can send one out immediately following the interview. I'm on the west coast so it'll probably take even longer.

So for international applicants, do we just order the transcript to be sent to the admission office? Does it have to reach MIT before the phone interview?

Got my rejection on December 22, can't say I'm all that disappointed though. MIT is not the right fit for everyone.

Interview next wednesday! Any good resources on how to prepare? I'm a little intimidated by MIT's unique interviewing process. I don't want paid consulting services, thanks though :)

start with the guide they give you to their interviews. then check out a few of the clear admit debriefs, and you should be set. behavioral interviews are pretty standard so there's prep for them outside of what's on admit sites too.
