As far as I know, the admission team calls near to 40% of the applicants to the interview stage, and then 70 ~ 80 % of those interviewed will be accepted. Giving that the registered admitted students number is still 25, and the third round is mostly for those who do not visa, it leads me to think that this 2nd round will have the largest number of admits, and mostly internationals... let us hope for the best for all of you..

From now, around one day and 14 hours left....but I think it will be shorter since I bet final decisions will be given out by 5 PM, Feb 14.

I am hoping to see few of us receiving acceptance call today as MensetManus did a day before deadline. Best of luck to all.
MensetManus
Heard focus of Orientation is largely to find housing, check out schools for kids, and to some extent, meet the outgoing class.
I was a R1. Went through 2 interviews.
1st email informing me of interview was early Oct. Did live interview, then skype interview 2 weeks later.
Was informed of acceptance on 1 Nov by phone, then 2 Nov letter in my online MIT account.
Thrilling process.
For those of you who are waiting - good luck.
If you get accepted, you need to start preparing for the move fast - think about apartments, budget, transpo, moving family, going solo, etc.
The checklist is long. Signing up your Kerberos, MIT email, Sloan AdMIT, IST, MySloan - seems intimidating, but once you get through all the Admin, feels good.

to those got interview invitations: Congrats!! Hope all of you will have a wonderful interview!! Don't forget there's a required additional essay.

to those got nothing by now: just be patient and check your junk mailbox if possible. I think you will be notified, no matter it's good or bad.

What do you mean by "there's a required additional essay"? Any International R3 Applicant around here?

Hi AbhuD - In case you get an invite for the interview, you will have to write an additional essay - Don’t remember the exact title but it was something like - What will you bring to MIT cohort?

Thanks for your reply! I did not know this! Is this something that needs to be submitted?

Also, bear in mind that R3 deadline was on the 12th of february, 2 days before the decision date (14th of february). They will obviously decide on the # of candidates on R3. IN my case, I am international on R3, any thoughts on chances?

To best of my knowledge- In round 3 MIT prefers people who do not need visa.

That means I am out? Encourage to internationals to apply on R1 or R2 is not the same as internationals being disqualified to apply on R3...just saying. Hopefully they'll let me in. Other question: Do you know if they give scholarships on MIT SF?
