Cover Letter: MIT Sloan seeks students whose personal characteristics demonstrate that they will make the most of the incredible opportunities at MIT, both academic and non-academic. We are on a quest to find those whose presence will enhance the experience of other students. We seek thoughtful leaders with exceptional intellectual abilities and the drive and determination to put their stamp on the world. We welcome people who are independent, authentic, and fearlessly creative — true doers. We want people who can redefine solutions to conventional problems, and strive to preempt unconventional dilemmas with cutting-edge ideas. We demand integrity and respect passion. Taking the above into consideration, please submit a cover letter seeking a place in the MIT Sloan MBA program. Your letter should conform to a standard business correspondence, include one or more professional examples that illustrate why you meet the desired criteria above, and be addressed to the Admissions Committee (300 words or fewer, excluding address and salutation). 2. Video Question 1: Every applicant has a story that can't be captured in a resume. Take up to 90 seconds to share yours: who you are, where you come from, and what's shaped the person you are today. Be conversational, be yourself. We can't wait to meet you. Videos should adhere to the following guidelines: 1. No more than 1.5 minutes (90 seconds) in length 2. Single take (no editing) 3. Speaking directly to the camera 4. Do not include background music or subtitles 3. Video Question 2: All MBA applicants will be prompted to respond to a randomly generated, open-ended question. We want to hear how you think and communicate in your own words. No prior preparation is required. The following are examples of questions that may be asked in the Video Question 2: 1. What achievement are you most proud of and why? 2. Tell us about a time a classmate or colleague wasn’t contributing to a group project. What did you do? MIT Sloan Business School at MBA Spotlight 2026: Key Takeaways APPLICATION & ADMISSIONS MIT Sloan has reduced its application rounds to two for the upcoming year, with deadlines typically in late September and mid-January. The application requires a cover letter, one letter of recommendation, and two video questions. Applicants must submit a GMAT, GMAT Focus, or GRE score, though there is no minimum score requirement. The application also includes a unique organisational chart to demonstrate stakeholder management. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS The two-year MBA program at MIT Sloan consists of one core semester followed by three semesters of electives, allowing students to tailor their education to their interests. Students can choose from seven certificates, similar to undergraduate minors, in areas like business analytics, sustainability, and finance. ACTION LEARNING & EXTRACURRICULARS Action learning labs are a signature part of the curriculum, providing real-world problem-solving experiences with corporate partners. Students can engage in dual degree programs, such as the MBA and Master’s in Public Policy with Harvard or the MBA and Master’s in Engineering (LGO) at MIT. Extracurricular activities include student-led conferences, study tours, and a variety of clubs. CAREERS & OUTCOMES MIT Sloan offers personalized career coaching and mentorship from second-year students who have secured internships. The program supports industry pivots, with about half of the students making a career change. The global alumni network is extensive, with over 30,000 Sloan alumni in more than 90 countries. NOTABLE Q&A Rachel Ferreira addressed questions about industry pivots, emphasizing the importance of storytelling in applications. She also highlighted new AI courses added to the curriculum, designed to prepare students for varying levels of AI engagement in their careers."
