be honest. how many of you had your heart beat skip after reading cpanomore's post little while ago and seeing the email from NYU Stern MBA Admissions, regarding online chats this week just a few minutes ago?

I know mine certainly did...lol

Sorry! I really debated whether I should post or not, but I figured that people like to hear about progress. Perhaps there is something to submitting early. It certainly can't hurt, unless you rush the app. Hopefully that will be helpful for people applying round 2 to certain schools.

My post was not meant against you CPANoMore. I was just saying as a matter of fact...I am glad you posted. It goes to show that the admissions staff is working fast and there is hope of all of us hearing a decision anytime!

Ah, so the virtual chats are specific to different concentration areas. That would explain why some didn't get the email about them.

For anyone who was interested in but missed the chat, Brian from the admissions staff said "the entire transcipt will be available on our website within a week after the chat."

Hey All,
I just received my status check email from Stern. Name begins with V so I guess they are nearly done with the review process.
Goodluck everyone!

Yeah, I visited 3 times. I'm somewhat close to the area though.

Sure! I've visited about 8 different business schools in the US and Canada (I live and work in SouthAm), I really do believe it's important to know where you are applying, we will be spending two years there after all... but I don't think it is going be that relevant in the application, it is more of a personal choice I guess. If you live in NYC and haven't visited, then I'd think it could mean trouble xD

When you visit campus, you also meet several international applicants... I even stumbled upon some people from my undergrad program in 3 visits, so I think most of us, even internationals, are doing it.

If you live near NYU Stern, you probably should visit. However, if you do not live close to the school, I do not think a visit is expected based on interviews I have seen with NYU Stern admissions staff and other information I have seen posted on its s website. NYU Stern does expect you to research the school though, using online chats, its website, and by communicating with NYU Stern students and alumni.

I didn't visit either, I'm saving my trip for an interview invite (wishful thinking), since they essentially require all prospective students to interview on campus.

Quick question for ya'll... did any of you visit campus prior to applying?

I toured Stern when I visited a friend in New York earlier this year. While the fact that I visited campus won't mean much to the admissions staff, I was able to relate some stories about meeting students and being in New York in Essay 2. Like someone else said, the important thing is to show that you've done your research on Stern, but visiting isn't a requirement, especially for those who live further away. For other schools I won't be able to visit, but will write about how I've interacted with the school and its students and alumni off-campus.
