From a bridge phone number with my country code. I almost declined it. Sounded like a bad voip call.
so they use bridge phone number, not US number?

Anyone who is on the waitlist accepting the position?

Where can we find the details for the waitlist additional recommendation and additional essay

Honestly, if you are an Indian and on a waitlist please save yourself from the waitlist trouble. Unless you score a 740 in GMAT the waitlist isn’t going to move in your favour. Your LoR and and Essay won’t help you a bit. Might sound harsh but that’s the truth.

I know it won’t because they are not going add any more Indian folks but a 740 will help them stat pad once they admit folks of diverse groups and see that their average is getting lower … they can make a place in that scenario

a high GMAT will help with the rankings and with the current trend the T30 schools are crazy for rankings at the moment they want T10 calibre folks to help them with the ranking. Simon Vanderbilt Rice Kelly Mendoza USC are the ones mad about rankings

Probably explains Rice’s absolute silence on R2 applications.

Thier CMC sucks and does nothing much to help them … if you are recruiting for IB and Consultings firms have a soft corner for folks with high GMAT so to balance the CMC they need these people

Everyone at Rice who were Waitlisted in R1 were with CA. I got Waitlisted in R2 without CA. This just shows the waitlist game is going to be bogus because they aren’t going to pull anyone off from it.

The only silver lining in all this mess is I didn’t have to spend a lot on actual application fees since I got app fee waivers for most of my programs.

Should have applied to more MS programs when I had the chance

See, it’s up to you now. Do you want to put in that effort which has a really less probability that too for a T30 for which 700 GMAT is good enough or do you want to take a 60K scholarship and get to the US this year itself or you intend to wait for another year and apply in EA or R1 in better schools

That's what even I have been contemplating. Brand is almost everything in MBAs, what's even the point of saving that little money ( unless it's a massive scholarship) in lieu of long term networks and brands

One way of looking at it is that your brand will be useful only if you are from top 10 or are in the US permanently (beyond top 10). In other cases, especially if you have to come back a top 20 vs top 50 won’t matter as both will be unknown in your home country with negligible network. So might as well take the little money.

I think the latest spate of layoffs has made matters more complicated.

A lot of domestic applicants suddenly applied once they were laid off.

A lot of these schools have really struggled placing International folks the past 2 years. Currently, the prospects don’t much positive either. They are focusing on their Rankings now more than before. Once they get done with the diversity quota they could add some meritorious International ORMs. If they are done then Waitlists too wouldn’t move.

Yes. These schools are now focusing on getting T10 level candidates which would ensure a better outcome for the school. That’s why they are ready to buy high GMAT/GREs atm

Honestly, it’s better to stay in India and work rather than going to William Marry. You would still pay north of 70-80 lakhs which is just a bad investment (in my opinion) the life in the US is anyway pretty bad. If you don’t get a solid outcome for yourself it’s not worth it. A Top 20 is a good shot at getting a positive outcome for yourselves.

Yeah that's true, even this year is a very weird one. A. It's a bad recession in the US B. Trump might come to power and you may never know what happens.Atleast next year there will be a bit more clarity.
only good thing about T-10 is that it has global recall value and we can try Dubai/Singapore etc as back ups. Don't know if people know Vandy or UNC or McDonough globally
