No, I did not opt for the video essay. I had submitted my application on 15th September. Got the Video Assessment invite on 14th October. Post this there will be a Community interview. Thats what they mentioned in the email.

Looks like its a new process they introduced this year, because even the current students arent aware of it.

As of now, no update from Rice. I applied on the 2nd week Oct but before the deadline.
