Can you pl elaborate how did you get the no of 806 applicants accepted directly when there are only 501 seats.

Last year it was 64%.

32% acceptance rate divided by 50% interview rate (according to BusinessWeek).
Wow,..pretty good odds.
You have to take note of the fact that 131 of the waitlisted applicants were accepted last year, which means only 806 of the 937 accepted applicants were accepted without spending time on the waitlist. 806 is 28% of the total number of 2,929 applicants; therefore, if you were looking for the percentage of those who were immediately accepted after their interviews, it is 56%.
It is also worth noting that between the 806 immediate-accepts and the 472 waitlisted applicants, 87% of those who were interviewed were either accepted or waitlisted. In all honesty, I think it is really 100% as the 187 people who were neither waitlisted nor accepted probably declined the waitlist offer as they had already gotten accepted to their top/match schools.
Finally, 28% of the waitlisted applicants eventually got the call from AdCom last year. And so, the odds of getting accepted are still pretty good even with the ridiculously high number of waitlisted applicants.
