Thanks for the response and link to the placement report. Is Ross considered a "Top 10" b-school? I see Ross placed in the top 10 in some rankings but in others they place 11-13 as well. Does this matter at all to employers?

Ross is considered among the best/top B-schools. Instead of generalising how employers look at Ross (which they do, very favorably), I'd suggest looking at whether the companies/industries that you're interested in working at post your MBA.

I wouldn't suggest looking solely at rankings and trying to figure out how schools are. Look deeper at your own interests. Rankings are only they starting point in B-school search and should not be used as the sole criterion for selecting a B-school.

Ross is known as a marketing school, and a variety of industries hire for marketing (tech, CPG, auto). But I think a majority of our students go into consulting.

By the way... nobody ever talked on this thread about uploading a photograph ...
I find it unique to Ross' application. Did you guys really keep the photo to 5 x 7 aspect ratio and with 75 or 150 dpi?
Thoughts...

I still can't get into the website, this is really frustrating as I need to add a recommender.

Hi Folks,

Am I supposed to submit optional essay if I chose former direct supervisor and not the current direct supervisor?
'If you are not selecting a direct supervisor as your recommender, please address why in the optional essay.' does not address former and current supervisor difference.

Thanks.

Good question! I would suggest be on the safer side and explain anyway.

A quick note in the optional essay should be good enough. You can give a variety of reasons (known longer hence better opportunity to evaluate or more no of projects etc. etc.).

I think won't do any harm if you write a line or two to explain the choice.
I used the space to highlight my ECs, since there was no other space allocated for them.

I applied in R1 - didn't use a current supervisor (used a former), and didn't explain it anywhere. Also, DO NOT use the optional essay to talk about your ECs (unless they will SIGNIFICANTLY enhance your candidacy). The AdCom explicitly said not to do that when I visited, they want you to talk about it in the interview (or essays).

Well that's a bummer!
I've been active for several years during undergrad and employment. It would suck if these get trimmed.
Bah humbug!
