FelTarrin,

Would be nice if you could give your thought on a couple of questions..
Q1. In a B-school with 5 years as the average years of work ex, how difficult would coping the MBA program, being able to contribute in group activities, as well as getting a full-time job be for someone with only 2.5 years of work ex?

Q2. The overall fees as well as post-MBA salary of Schulich is higher than corresponding values of DeGroote (McMaster), but do you think that the Brand name of Schulich will continue to aid career growth even after many years or do you think the playing field, with graduates of various Ontario B-schools, will level up by that time and the "Schulich Edge" won't be significant by that time?

Q3. How good is the Marketing specialisation in Schulich? And how easy is it for an Indian student to get a Marketing/MGMT consultancy job in Ontario, given that we'd be competing against Rotman, Queens, Ivey, McGill, Concordia, + local Canadians looking for the same job.

The information is from my point of view. It may be different for other people so take it with a pinch of salt.

I personally have around 2 years of work experience and I find it advantageous in certain situations like for example I would be able to justify change in my industry. I would be open to experiment with my internship instead of sticking to one industry. And from what I hear Canadian work exp is considered valuable but Indian work exp could prove to be hindering since you would be expecting a senior role and the companies won't be able to offer it.

Disadvantage being some of the consulting companies require 3+ work ex for internships. It's not easy to relate to some of the concepts in MBA as my exp in handling people is on the lower side.

Don't worry about group projects . Each person has a unique set of skills and you should be able to contribute .

"Schulich edge" according to me is the ability to connect with alum over Linkdin. Most are open to conversations. Schulich has a wider range of alum while compared to some of the collages you mentioned. This edge will last you for your entire career.

Marketing and consultation (general) is predominantly dominated by the locals. You have to prove yourself if you want that sort of position but it's not impossible. Schulich is positioned better for marketing if you were to ask me since it's in Toronto and it's not a heavy finance oriented college unlike the ones you mentioned. It's a combination of luck, skill, hard work and a huge dose of NETWORKING.

I hope these would answer some of your questions. I know I am sounding vague but an MBA is a unique journey and you have to figure out if it's suitable for you at this point.I would end this with "It depends". These are the 2 words I kept getting from my seniors when I was asking questions about Schulich when I had to make my decision. All the best.

Any idea when the admission invites will be out? I got interviewed on Dec 19 and after that there is no mail from Schulich(also because of Christmas).

Anybody who applied in R1 but still yet to receive an interview call?
Given that they're rolling out R1 interview calls in 2 batches, any idea when we'll get them because R2 deadline is the end of Jan.

Hi I have the same issue?

Do they announce all the acceptance/rejections at the same time or on a rolling basis ?

My interview was with Sanjay Dhingra.
A very conversational interview all about my work and my profile. He honestly tried to understand how and why the MBA fit into my goals. I’m travelling at the moment, but will post a full debrief soon!

Would it be a good idea to write to the admissions committee and find out the results for R1? The anticipation is just too much!

Received an interview call two days back. Have to connect with Jessica for the same. Anyone who has already been interviewed and could share a debrief? This is for the MBA in Toronto, not the India one.

Thanks!
