Thanks for sharing NandoParrado!! Man there are some great stories in there. I enjoyed reading them way more than my own essays - lol.
My pleasure - I hope you make it out of the WL!

It seems like last year the number of reported round 2 invites was considerably lower than r1 . Comparing numbers its seems like we have about 20 more to go out for this round. I hope it was a simple case of fewer ppl reporting their invites on GMat Club in round 2 , but then who knows? Can anyone share more data points here?

I thought that there was virtually "no difference" between R1 and R2, or is that not the case for GSB? Hopes are dwindling..

Woah! DB called me today to inform me that an Indian Reliance Scholarship candidate(full 2 year merit scholarship) from R1 couldn't join Stanford due to personal issues and if I wanted to fill the vacancy by a late personal application which Stanford will directly forward to Reliance. He says the decision from Reliance would come in along with the interview decision by end March. Apparently the scholarship applications are only for R1 applicants and I am being given a preferential offer due to the vacancy....

Not sure if I'm the only Indian to receive this offer or they are going to shortlist from a bunch of folks but who the hell would say no to that, Mr. DB? Thank you very much!

BTW: Contrary to what I read or otherwise heard, DB seems to be a genuinely nice guy, truly concerned about your interests and personal life...

Whoa! Congrats!! You sure it wasn't a dream?? This sounds an awful lot like the dreams I have. Dream ----> *recieves phone call from palo alto* "Hi, this is Derrick Bolton. I know we usually don't inform people until March if they got in or not, but I would like to offer you a full scholarship to the GSB, no interview required. Do you accept?" Reality ------> *wakes up, checks email, nothing from Stanford. Checks phone....same thing. Repeat.

LOL that was funny.... I actually missed the first call he made around noon and then he called me back later that night (my time).... basically what i'm saying is, I had 2 data points (on my phone log) to conduct a thorough assessment and come to a logical conclusion that it wasn't a dream. But I must say, it wasn't easy and I had to really convince myself.
