They're not very transparent on this one...I know I'll qualify for a needs based scholarship once I have no income. I'm just wondering if there is a certain income "cut-off" level. I'll call their office this afternoon to see if I can get a straight answer.

That's my concern. Don't get me wrong; I don't make $250k a year but if I'm competing against people that make $45k a year, they're going to laugh at my request. As for assets....that should be a good one.

How does this sound: I had about $75k saved for bschool. I'm hoping it will be worth $10k at matriculation. I have an expensive condo that I can't sell so I'll be renting it out for net loss of $500/month. Not exactly my story but I'm sure they'll be getting a lot of messages like this. Even worse from all the trust fund babies out there.

If i'm not mistaken, They won't take your parent's assets into consideration at all.

Financial Aid at the top business schools seems like a very flawed process. Did you read the book "Ahead of the Curve"? It mentioned that most kids who get admitted into HBS try to spend their money ASAP on nice cars so they can pull in scholarships.

Is there a way I can get some scholarship without filling the scholarship form? I actually forgot to fill the scholarship form/essay. I am an EA round applicant and received an Interview invite.

Does anyone know from past experience if the scholarships are all need based? I was a banker and made good money in 2008 and have substantial savings from the last four years. I'm debating whether they'll even bother with me.

I believe that you are out of luck but I would call the admissions office to see. I know that the deadlines seemed pretty strict and that you need to fill out the form to get the scholly.

I'm in the same boat as you. Read my post near the top of the page. Not all scholarships are needs-based.

Madz and I are the only international candidates (not been interviewed yet)?

Even R1 candidates have been interviewed and I am still awaiting adcom to call me for interview. Should I start getting worried?

I believe all the R1 candidates took advantage of the self-intitiated interview. Considering the R1 deadline was 48 hours ago, no one could possibly have been invited for an interview.

Hi all...

I'm working on the scholarship application and there is something I'm not sure about...

I'm a US citizen but I live, work and pay taxes in another country.

when I file my US tax forms, I report my foreign income and I am exempt from US income taxes as I am already paying where I live.

I will enter all of my foreign income, savings, etc. but what should I enter in the "2008 estimated income taxes" line?

Do I enter what I pay where I live or '0' as I am exempt from US income taxes?

I plan to call the office but they won't be in until Tuesday and I'd rather get this over with :-)

I am an R1 applicant from Indian. And I suppose, being an international applicant, I cannot schedule a telephonic interview myself.I am worried about the interviews as well. Is it a good idea to call the adcom this monday?
