I received my interview invite, but could not schedule an interview due to the lack on interview slots. I talked to Connie and she is going to add some interview slots today. So, all those who are waiting, hang in there, there is still hope!!!!
Just received my interview invite as well! Like you mentioned, there are no more on campus interview slots left. Does anyone know if there is a difference interviewing on campus vs. off campus? Does it affect your chances? I've read in the forum that on campus interviews are often conducted by 2nd year students. What about off campus interviews? I'm assuming alumni?
This is what the Anderson application FAQs says:
"Interviews are by invitation only. If you are selected for an interview, you will be notified after the admissions committee has done a preliminary review of your application, which could be at any time during the admissions round. If you cannot come to campus for the interview then one will be arranged with a UCLA Anderson alumnus/alumnae in your location. All candidates being considered for admission will be interviewed, but an interview is not a guarantee of an offer. There is no difference between interviews conducted on-campus or off-campus, as all interviewers are trained to evaluate communication skills, focus, reasoning, passion, and understanding of the opportunities that a UCLA Anderson MBA provides."
I would say that the only difference between doing it on campus or off is that if you go there you might have more to say about why Anderson. Also, it's less likely that there will be any curve ball questions. There was at least one person on this forum who had a pretty bad experience with an alum. However, for everyone else, it seems like it was very relaxed, w/ basic questions whether it was on campus or off.
Personally, I flew from the midwest and interviewed on campus with a 2nd year student. Same thing to say about the interview as everyone else. I'm really glad I went to see the school and meet people, but I only applied to 2 schools and I had never been to LA. So I figured I should go. It shouldn't impact you negatively to do it with an alum.
