Informational interview with an admissions counsellor

EVERYONE has questions about pursuing an MBA
This year, don’t let your doubts become a barrier between you and your potential. Foster MBAs invested in their future by finding answers to their questions before applying. You can do the same by setting up an appointment to speak with an admissions counselor.

How to make an appointment
We are available via phone, Zoom, or in person. Email mba@uw.edu with your general availability. We recommend scheduling an appointment a couple of weeks in advance. Our calendars fill up quickly!

What to wear
This isn’t your admission interview, and we are in casual Seattle, so don’t worry about looking formal. Wear what makes you feel confident while making a good impression.

What to expect
You’ll receive a confirmation email with appointment details. Appointments generally last between 10 and 30 minutes. We will get to know you, talk about your goals, answer your questions, and point you towards valuable resources. Although we cannot review your application materials or tell you your chances of being admitted, we can certainly talk about how you might prepare to present your best application.

Does anyone know the recommendation questions this year?

I also have another question for the moderators/admin/anyone who is knowledgeable about this.

So I created my Foster FT MBA Application last year and had one of my recommenders submit the recommendation. I never submitted this application though, and I simply reopened it this cycle and changed the intake year to ('23). I plan to get another recommender to submit an application so I fulfil the quota of 2 recommendations.

Does the first recommendation submitted last year count? Or should I create a new profile and ask my recommender to submit again?

So I created my Foster FT MBA Application last year and had one of my recommenders submit the recommendation. I never submitted this application though, and I simply reopened it this cycle and changed the intake year to (’23). I plan to get another recommender to submit an application so I fulfil the quota of 2 recommendations.

I think the school should be able to use last year’s recommendation but it is better to confirm with the school. Did you email/call them about this?

I think the school should be able to use last year’s recommendation but it is better to confirm with the school. Did you email/call them about this?

Agree with you on this Nikhil, however, I doubt if they store the recommendation if you did not submit the application. It would be best for you to write to the program

Thank you for the help guys.

I am still having trouble understanding the recommendation format (as seen on Clear Admit website)

Do they just need the following 3 answers as part of the recommendation?

1) How long have you known this applicant and in what capacity?(Maxlength is 300 characters)
2) In making this evaluation, what group are you using as a basis for comparison?(Maxlength is 300 characters)
3) Admission to graduate study in Business Administration – Foster School of Business – Global MBA at the University of Washington is:

What about the usual strengths/weaknesses questions? I also saw this at the bottom of the Recommendation: Recommenders may enter an assessment letter in the textbox, upload an assessment letter in Word, PDF, or RTF format, or send the assessment letter by postal mail.

Does this mean recommenders have to write a letter? Can it be an open letter, or should it follow some kind of format? Or is it the usual recommendation letter MS applicants submit? (3-4 paragraphs)

godhand, There will be an option for your recommender to just type the text and submit it online.

It is the easiest option to submit a recommendation, I think

I don’t think they have any reapplicant essay.

You can use optional essay maybe to write about why you are reapplying?

Hi guys, how’re you doing with your application to Foster? I’m completing my application for Round 1. However, I have a little problem with the optional essay. Does anyone know whether the optional essay 4 is required if a candidate wants to be considered for Forté schorlarship?

I read the instruction on the website and portal but I’m still confused🥲 Just to make sure is it true that if candidates dont submit the optional essay, they won’t be considered for Forte scholarship?
