I haven't seen anyone accepted R3, from the waitlist or even rejected from the waitlist. I'm sure the sample is small and odds that they post on here or livewire may be low, but it still seems strange...that and I haven't received any emails/notifications outside of status updates putting me on the waitlist and then keeping me there for the summer.
I know HBS is infinitely more transparent in their process (on their waitlist as well)...does anyone know if Wharton's silence is normal (and Harvard the odd one by treating people like adults whose lives they have in their hands) or if Wharton is the odd one out and other waitlists provide real information like HBS does?
I have talked to people on the waitlist and used my Google powers to search for relevant keywords that indicate movement. So far the information indicates that there hasn't been any movement on the waitlist. I think that we will begin seeing movement in early June after the Round 3 deposit deadline. From a yield perspective and class composition perspective, this behavior makes sense.
After the Round 3 deadline, Wharton will already have seen the available talent pool for the year, know how many spaces are available, and know that those individuals still on the waitlist will most likely take the offer. Few people would wait for so long unless Wharton is their top choice. So it will be a matter of offering admission until the available spaces are filled. Why offer a place to a Round 1 waitlist in Round 2 when you haven't seen the Round 3 applicants? Why offer a place to a waitlisted applicant before you know with almost certainty how many spaces will be available? It's cruel, but effective.
