Hi there, Paul4910

We are very sorry to hear that you got rejected even after scoring a stellar 770 on your GMAT! Also, your GPA was quite decent! However, where I think that you might have fallen a bit short is the impact & narrative part of your essays and in your overall profile. With such an industry background, apart from your achievements and leadership examples, you need to justify your "Why MBA" and add elements of how an MBA could further help create a difference or a positive impact in people's lives! Well, it's quite obvious that candidates don't follow what they mentioned in their essays verbatim, but that's an important component that adcoms pay attention to. Then again, I'm just assuming based on the brief information available hence, if you want, we would like to understand the whole story behind your rejection, just click here to connect with us by for a Free Review! Furthermore, you can send the essay samples to this Email ID: [email protected]; we would love to assist you with your concerns!

Best,
MBA and Beyond

Anyone working with any premium consultant and yet got rejected from HBS / Wharton?
I had 770 with 3.5 GPA. Tobacco industry.
6 years WE. Got rejected from both of the schools.
Wrote essay all by myself. Just wondering if any consultant would help to turn it around.

Or was there anything to do with Tobacco Industry!!
Or was my essay just not good enough!!

I think you really do. You need to have goals that Wharton thinks can help you with, and try to emphasize your team player skills through your essays and letters of recommendation. Btw where are you from?

Hi Shivamrr19,

Your profile looks good on the surface. Based on the information you have shared, here are my two cents. You have an amazing GMAT score. So, the academic part is pretty sorted. On the work front, your work experience in the Navy must be quite impressive. I’m sure you have a lot of stories to dig out from your work experience to bring to the table and make your essays stand out! You will need to bring a visionary leader in you, one who knows how to conquer obstacles and bring growth to you and your organization! You must bring the most valuable qualities of your work experience. Your navy background would definitely give you an edge in terms of diversity and presenting a unique story. With this vast work experience, you will also need to highlight your career progression. All these together will have a positive impact to your application. Wharton wants candidate must be innovative and possess high leadership skills. So, bringing values in your profile works wonders. You can read a story of a Military Veteran who got into MBA. You will get some confidence. However, we would like to know more about your profile to gauge your chances. Feel free to schedule a call with us here at your convenience.

Cheers!
