Maybe they’ve already taken decisions on a bunch of apps, so they just figured they’d release those. The borderline ones they need to evaluate with R1 WL etc later?

I think you are on to something, because I am consortium. Consortium applicants tend to get their results earlier during the rounds so I'm assuming that is the reason. Everyone else will get this email later this month.
