New here but made an account just to share my story.
So I decided on applying to Desautels a little late. I was hesitant initially because I didn't think I had the application to make it and that caused me to deliberate on it than I would have otherwise (not to mention the application fees). Anyhow, eventually ended up deciding I wanted to try it so I basically applied on May 31, 2016. This is sort of the application I went with: 2 years of WE (engineering/science), 640 GMAT (Q39, V39, IR 8, AW 6) and a 2.9ish GPA. After having scrolled through these pages, I knew I was on the lower end of the scale in these measures so I had to work extra hard on the other aspects. My employers provided me with a great recommendation but I think the essays were what really stood out to them.
I made them as personal as I could and tried to walk them through the challenges I had been through and it worked. Not bad for a first ever application. The same is true for the interview.
All said and done, I was able to submit all my documents by June 15 and got a response within a couple of days for an interview. After going through that, in another couple of days, I got my acceptance.
Normally, I would not post this but I hope that someone like me ( i.e. someone conflicted about applying to their favorite school or is unsure if he/she still has a shot this close to the deadline) will come across this and decide to go for it.
And a thanks to the people who kept this thread going - helped quite a bit with the tips. I'd love to throw some pointers out for the essays and interview. Feel free to PM me.
