Hi hokiegenius
Thank you for the reply. I will pm you for more help in 2-3 days.Wish you all the best.

Ari123,

Your timing to ask the ppt question is amazing. And for the first time, i have seen 4 people falling all over and trying to top each other in giving the best answer possible for your question :)

I am sure this is the result of the nervous and agonizing wait each one of us is going thru...

Now, the only way i can top the other 4 guys is either by sharing my ppt with you or by creating one for you :-D

I'll resist the urge to do that and suggest you to check out walker's guide to ppt first. (walker-s-guide-to-slide-presentation-80253.html). Then take a break to think long and hard as who you are, what you are made of and which of those points do you want to convey to booth. Once you do this, the next step is to decide as how to convey it - either with images and words or like a comic conversation strips.

If i get through booth, i'll add my 2 cents to the same ppt guide thread. (eventhough it's walker's guide :))

Completely agree with Afan. The PPT was the part in the whole Chicago app that took the most of my time. I contemplated over a month, rejected tons of ideas, before I was satisfied with my PPT. And it is very unique to me and reflective of who I am. I do not think that looking at other's PPTs would have helped me. Probably, doing that would have contaminated my thinking and prevented me from communicating what I wanted to since I would try to fit myself in to their shoes. As for no. of words, pictures, art, style, look etc. goes I think everyone would have a different mix with some of the selected ones at every extreme. Infact I just looked at Walker's guide as well and my PPT is structured very differently than what is suggested there. So again I do not think that putting x sentences, y words and z pictures would give you a winning PPT.

That's my 2 cents.

Thanks,
D.

Your analysis is damn good afan. What a wreck we've all become all because of these decisions.

I don't think there's a set formula on the powerpoint.

I Was reading through the November 18th chat and came across this post from Carrie Lydon, Associate Director of Admissions at Chicago Booth. Interesting that Rose reads each application before an interview is granted.

Carrie: Hi Mani. Every application is read between 3-6 times during the admissions process, including a full read by Associate Dean Rose Martinelli. Our Admissions Fellows (trained second year students) do the first read of every application. The applications are then turned over to an admissions director, who thoroughly reads the file and makes a recommendation for an interview. At that point, Rose reads all files to make sure that the decisions were accurate. Post interview, all applications are read by at least one additional admissions director. We include various readers to ensure that we are including diverse perspectives in the process.

I'm going to go with "no" to provide you with some comfort in lieu of a call from adcomms tomorrow. Of course, I'm sure we'll hear about it as soon as someone gets a call. Of course I'll tell my friends at gmatclub before I tell my parents, my friends and my colleagues (I'm serious - you are more time sensitive!).

I just spent a few minutes reading over last year's thread. Calls went out the day before decision date starting at ~11 AM CST. This is not a set in stone time, as calls started later in the day in years before that. All admits, except some internationals and maybe one US admit, got a call the day before the decision date.

Good luck everyone! Chat and this forum will be very active Tuesday.

Have you guys ever heard that statistic that guys think about sex every seven seconds? I can't help but think the same applies to waiting to hear from b-schools... my mind seems to wander back to that about every 30 seconds or so.

It's cold outside - oh, it's cold in Chicago - I wonder if i'll get in?
Hey, Paul Sameulson died - wasn't he from Chicago? - I wonder if I'll get in?
I need to do some x-mas shopping - hey, they have x-mas in Chicago - I wonder if i'll get in?

I tried hard to distract myself this weekend, but to no avail. Hope everyone gets some good news this week!!

I have never been so unproductive and miserable in my life before. I know that I could have done a little better in the interview. Couldn't sell everything that I had in 30 mins. My interviewer said in the end that Booth looks at 5-6 components in the app (acads, EC, work ex etc.) with every component of the app carrying some weightage and that interview will carry roughly around 20%.

Best of luck for tomorrow guys.
