I'm a round 2 applicant... just got an invite for an "MBA Super Saturday Interview Day"... at the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, is this the same as an interview invite? The e-mail further states that if I can't make it to the "Super Saturday" event, e-mail back so they can schedule me for an interview off campus with an alum... so I'm thinking yes.

I started to stress out since I didn't receive this but apparently only people who live outside of the Bay Area/haven't visited campus yet get invited. https://www.facebook.com/haasmbaadmissi ... 3279316851

Yes! My bad. That was an important detail that I forgot to mention. The e-mail specifically mentions: "Super Saturday is primarily designed to provide U.S. applicants who reside outside the Bay Area the opportunity for an on-campus interview during a weekend."

The event is on February 21st, and the agenda is posted here: https://mba.haas.berkeley.edu/SSFAQs.pdf

That's pretty much all I know. I initially thought this was a generic e-mail that all applicants got... but I guess not. Yes, I am an idiot. Cool 8-)

so invite will be only U.S applicants who reside outside the Bay Area not international applicants??
Is any international applicants to get invitation?

Hey all - current Haas Student here. I'm in the EWMBA, so I'm sure it's different, but the admission process is the same from what I understand. When I applied last year, I also got Waitlisted, then accepted in the following round. Don't get too dejected on the WL. Stay in touch with the Adcom. Do what they suggest to improve what your application looks like. Focus on making sure they know the entire story of you - personally, professionally, academically. Retake tests if you need to, definitely get an additional letter of recommendation from someone who knows you well and (maybe more importantly) can write a very compelling narrative about you.

Hi Atlasdrum, thanks so much for this message! The adcom said they do NOT give feedback, so how would we know what weaknesses they perceived in our candidacy? So you definitely suggest getting an additional letter of recommendation? What about visiting campus, or writing a letter of continued interest?

Thanks again!

When I applied, they told us that they wouldn't give us feedback until after the application process was closed and all decisions went out. But they did give us general suggestions like "retake test, additional letter, etc." Did they do the same for you?

I did several things, retake my GMAT (got the same score the second time) and got a third letter. I can't be sure, but I have a feeling that third letter did it. I was also engaged, did a class visit, got to know the people in the office, etc. So try to take a good, objective look at your application from a third person's perspective. Ask yourself, what do I think the weakness of the application is? Is it my test? My essays? Is it my GPA? Is there someone that can write a letter or recommendation that will add to the color of my personal and professional story? And finally, go back over all of the Haas website and brochure information. Read really carefully about what kind of student Haas looks for. What is important to the school in constructing a class? Think beyond the academics and focus on the culture and the defining principles as well. Chance are, everyone who applies is academically capable of succeeding in the program, so they have to look beyond just academics when deciding who would comprise an amazing class. Does your application tell a story about yourself that aligns with what you think they are looking for?

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Do you mind shedding some more light about this matter? Did you get the feed back via emailing adcom? Or did you set up a schedule to speak with one?

Hey gang- to chime in on the Super Saturday questions, below is a copy of my thoughts from this same thread two years ago. I wouldn't sweat about whether you're invited to Super Saturday or not, it's a cool opportunity to visit campus but I don't think it's any kind of signal. Good luck guys!

Can somebody explain what is super Saturday? Is this where they will interview most R2 applicants?
I'm pretty clueless about it, but here's an excerpt from a Haas adcom from two years ago that might help:

Quote:
MYTH #1: Super Saturday interviews hold more weight than other interviews
FALSE - Candidates invited to Super Saturday are round 2 applicants who typically reside in the US, but outside the Bay Area. This gives them an opportunity to travel to campus for an interview during a weekend. Though we wish we could extend this opportunity to all of our candidates invited to interview, rest assured that a Super Saturday interview holds equal weight to an interview conducted with an alumnus in your local area or with a student on campus.
Source: https://www.mbaprepadvantage.com/blog/haas-dispels-myths-about-mba-interview-invitations/
So if there are limited spots for Super Saturday, how do they decide which U.S.-based candidates are invited?

Who knows. On one hand, it could make sense to use a priority system in terms of applicant quality and match: you want to sell to the strongest candidates and the best way to do that is through a campus visit. As a U.S.-based candidate who did not get a Super Saturday invite, it could mean that I'm in a 2nd-tier of interview candidates.

On the other hand, it makes just as much sense to look at it logistically: if a metro area has a well-represented alumni population, you'd want to prioritize SS invites to other applicants who might have a harder time finding an alumni match in their area. I'm from D.C., where there is a decent pool of Haas alumni doing social and non-profit work, and have had an easy time connecting for my interview.

It's interesting to contemplate, but I've learned that there is so much out of our control in this process that it's not worth worrying about.

Hey everybody,

I was waitlisted in R1 without an interview. I live in Asia and couldn't be up at night to attend the waitlist chat.
I have my interview scheduled for next Friday, but I'm not sure what to do about it:
- Can/should I tell my interviewing alumni that I'm waitlisted?
- Nothing groundbreaking happened since I applied in R1. My scores are good (770 and high GPA), my guess is it was either essays or recommendations. Any ideas on what should I try to push myself ahead out of the waitlist?

Cheers!

Sorry if this has been asked/answered already - is there a set date that Haas sends out all interview invites for r2, or is it rolling? Thanks.

I believe for R1, people got interviews up to the decision date on 1/15. I'm not sure what that date is for Haas...I think it might be 3/25 or something which is a long time!

Yes, I got this email, but it came 10 days ago. Were you late submitting any of your application materials?

I got that email as well just a couple days ago. All my materials were submitted on time and I got a confirmation of submission email immediately. I'm guessing they look at applications in piles, so the pile our apps were in just got thrown into the mix, and the automated email was sent when that occurred.

I haven't gotten that e-mail either. I submitted a few days before the deadline. I only got the original email saying thank you for applying.

I got this email today!!

Can anyone help me with an apparently stupid question?

This message mentions that, right after the invite for interview, I will have to submit "official academic records". I understood something wrong or they are asking for a hard copy submited by mail? How it happened for international applicants in the first round?

Thank you and good luck 4 all!

Thank you!
