Folks with admits, was there anyone who did not submit the video essay and chose to introduce themselves via a written essay? I feel I can communicate more information in the written essay and therefore I am a little concerned if not submitting a video will hurt my application in any way
I don’t think there is any negative impact of written essay if you feel that is something which would benifit your profile. Video essay provides them to get to know you in an unconventional way but that’s just my thinking.
It’s a tradeoff between showcasing your personality and having more content yes. I am just curious to know if there are folks who opted for the written essay and got in (not that I think its the only factor but just want to curb my anxiety over choosing the written medium)
My reco is video format any day - for a host of reasons. 1) fewer people go for that because it makes them step out of their comfort zone; 2) it enables them to ’see and hear’ the candidate directly and possibly draw comfort on their confidence, genuineness and to some extent articulation as well.
If your overall profile is decent enough(resume, exp, goals, score) I don’t really think it matters whether you write an essay or record a video
