Applied 9/18, still have not heard back even for interview invite, anyone know why it could take so long

I asked several admissions officers and they all said 6 weeks is pretty normal. They also told me that a lot of applications are submitted right around the deadline.

Still waiting too ... submitted app on 9/4, and submitted new GMAT score last week (which I'm sure has delayed mine).

And congrats MC15! :)

Big news: Columbia will begin processing Regular Decision apps on November 18th.

That's at least a month earlier than they've ever done it before.

While it's possible that they got fewer apps in ED (we're sure plenty of people will be speculating as much as soon as they hear this change), we actually believe that this is due to the change in leadership in admissions and the increased efficiency of the team.

What it means for you: If you've already gotten that RD app in, you can start nervously refreshing your inbox on Nov. 18th, looking for that interview invite. :-)

And if you haven't submitted yet... it's time to get busy!!

Good luck to all!

I submitted on 10/1 and was invited to interview 10/17! (ED)

Does anyone know the stats regarding the percentage of applications invited to interview and the percentage of interviews accepted? Are these stats higher for ED versus RD?

Thanks!

Does it mean the game is over for ED applicants who haven't received any updates from CBS? A ding is on its way?

At an admissions event, they said they like to interview "between a third and a quarter of applicants." A back of the envelope calculation would mean that ~60-65% of people who get interview requests are admitted (assuming 18% admission rate). Not sure the impact of ED versus RD, but I know there are cases of people who applied late in the RD cycle and got wait-listed despite positive interviews (with the assumption being it was because there weren't enough spots left).
