Unless there is some type of glitch going on, if you have a Search for Interviewer function, you have an invite! (99% sure). The automated emails usually get sent out a little after the update has been made to your application, so it shows up after a login before you get the email; at least that is my experience after two years of applications.

As far as the interview advice: IMO "Why Columbia" is key. They might only ask you it once, but you can answer it with almost every question. Make sure to weave in clubs/classes/professors/conferences you're interested in. I interviewed last year and this, and both were laid back, with standard behavioral questions (walk me through your resume, why mba, why CBS, describe a leadership situation, etc), so just know your resume, have your clear goals and try to have Why CBS come through crystal clear. Good luck everyone!

Did you think your interview went well last year, or did you leave it thinking you were dinged? I thought mine went well, but my interviewer didn't respond to my thank you note, so I'm getting marginally worried. Anyways, good luck!

Hey everyone,
Applied: 10/02
I did not receive an official interview invite, but I checked my application web-page. I have a new link which says "Search for an interviewer". Do you think that I will receive an interview invitation?

I checked my application after I saw your post and I have a "Search for an interviewer" also, though I haven't received an email either..... Also applied 10/02.

I think everyone has it.

Fiona if there is no update then you're still good. If you were dinged it would have an update with a rejection letter. Yours is probably just still under review.

MGH, last year I wouldn't say it went poorly, but I left my interview thinking "I think that went well," whereas this year, I left thinking "I f***ing crushed it." There is probably plenty of middle ground in there that still has an acceptance, though. Nothing you can do about not getting a response on the thank you, that's probably just up to the interviewer's personality type. Best of luck!

Where would the link be? My application still says the status is "Submitted", and if I click into it I just see the completed items below and the fact that I've paid. Would the link be somewhere in there? Applied the evening of 10/2.

Hey everyone,
Applied: 10/02
I did not receive an official interview invite, but I checked my application web-page. I have a new link which says "Search for an interviewer". Do you think that I will receive an interview invitation?

Just checked my application status and I have the "Search for an Interviewer" link as well but no email yet. I'm a reapplicant and last year I didn't check the status until I received the email, so I'm not sure if the link was there prior to the email being sent. Here's the body of the interview invite email I received from last year if it's helpful. Seems like the link showing up is a positive sign. Good luck!

Dear ...,

As part of the continuing evaluation of your application, the Admissions Committee is pleased to invite you to interview with a Columbia Business School Ambassador. Ambassadors are alumni of the program who volunteer to conduct interviews and can answer your questions about their experiences at Columbia Business School.

On your status page, you will now see an item under ‘Forms’ titled Search for an Interviewer. On this page, you will see further instructions as to how to search for an Ambassador in your city.

We strongly suggest that you arrange your interview within two weeks of this invitation and complete your interview within one month from today. Keep in mind that in a rolling admissions process, it will be to your advantage to schedule your interview for the earliest date convenient for both you and your Ambassador.

The Admissions Office does not expect or require you to travel outside of your area in order to interview, nor do we offer on-campus interviews. If it appears there are no available Ambassadors in your area, please reach out to XX by phone (212) XXX-XXXX or by email at [email protected] to discuss alternative arrangements.

Interviews can occur at any stage of the application review process. You will receive a final decision after your interview report (together with your entire application) is submitted and reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

Have a great interview!

Sincerely,
MBA Admissions
Columbia Business School

Where is the "Forms" section? Just trying to make sure I am not lost here.
The website I log into is the one they sent me after I submitted the app. It has the title "Application Status for 'John Doe'" at the top.
Then it has sections called "Recent Activities (listing that I paid) and also "Applications checklist"
Am I on the right page?

It shows up on the main status page near the bottom, underneath the 'application checklist', directly above your 'application proof.' A new section will pop up which says 'forms.' Under that, you have an option to search for interviewers.

Still waiting.

Guys, I'd appreciate a quick poll. How many 10/02 ED applicants still waiting for an invite?
