Consider each of the following statements. Does the information in the three sources support the inference as stated?

The average price per pound of the mints including tax and delivery is $10.29.
6 pounds of mints costs $65.8 including tax and delivery. So, the average price per pound is \(\frac{65.8}{6}\) = 10.967
Whereas without including tax the average is \(\frac{(65.8-4.06)}{6} = \frac{61.74}{6} =$10.29 \)
Answer: No.

Sugar-free chocolates cost about 80% more, on average, than regular varieties of chocolate.
Price of sugar free chocolates is $5.85
Average Price of regular varieties of chocolate = (3.58+3.24+2.94)/3 = $3.25
Difference = 5.85 - 3.25 = $2.6 which is 80% 0f 3.25
Answer: Yes

The Candy Man charged $0.75 per pound for delivery services.
Delivery Charge = $10
Qty ordered is 6lb
Delivery charge per pound = 10/6 = $1.67
Answer: No

Consider each of the following statements. Does the information in the three sources support the inference as stated?

QUESTION 1

1. The average price per pound of the mints including tax and delivery is $10.29.

Using data in Source#3

Total Cost (for 6 Pounds), including tax and delivery = $ 65.80

So, Average Cost (per Pound), including tax and delivery = $ 65.80 / 6 = $10.96

NO is the answer

QUESTION 2
2. Sugar-free chocolates cost about 80% more, on average, than regular varieties of chocolate.

Using data in Source#1

on average, regular varieties of chocolate (3 types) cost = (3.58 + 3.24 + 2.94) / 3 = $9.76 / 3 = $ 3.25 per Pound

on average, sugar-free chocolates (3 types) cost = $ 5.85 per Pound

% more = (5.85 - 3.25) / 3.25 = 2.60 / 3.25 = 0.8 (or, 80%)

YES is the answer

QUESTION 3
3. The Candy Man charged $0.75 per pound for delivery services.

Official Explanation

The cost per pound is $10.97 after tax and delivery. This is calculated by dividing the total cost of the shipment, in this case $65.80, by the number of pounds of candy delivered: $65.80 ÷ 6 = $10.97.

Sugar-free chocolates cost $5.85 a pound, while regular chocolates cost an average of about $3.25 per pound. Sugar-free chocolates cost $2.60 more per pound than regular chocolates, on average. This is 80% more than the cost of regular chocolates.

The Candy Man charged $10.00 to deliver Betsy Carver’s order. The order consisted of 6 pounds of chocolate. That works out to $10.00 ÷ 6, or $1.67 per pound.

I assumed it as well, but where is it mentioned that the "regular variety" of chocolate is supposed to be: 'dark, milk, white chocolate'?
