1. Decent GPA at a reputed Indian college, extensive leadership experience at clubs/college fests.
2. 8 years of WE as of now- employee #15 at devtech unicorn, global BD lead at a16z Top 100 Marketplace travel startup, first cofounded startup (OTT for non-resident Indians globally) acquired, extensive crypto/blockchain experience through consulting + full-time gigs, scaled second startup (wealthtech) to $1.5Mn AUM before winding down. Lifetime funding raised (as founder + chief of staff roles) > $5Mn. 3. Post-MBA goal is to pursue entrepreneurship again- ideally in the decentralized finance space. Long-term goal is to take finance to every person's fingertips. 4. Personal life: Spent 6 years in Indonesia + 1 year in Singapore (as a kid), travelled to ~30 countries.
Hi, this is a highly entrepreneurial profile with a global edge.
Eight years spanning early-stage tech, a startup acquisition, $5M+ funding raised, and crypto/blockchain experience makes you stand out for Booth, Sloan, and INSEAD. The 705 GMAT Focus is okay HBS/GSB medians, so execution needs to lean heavily on your entrepreneurial spike and vision for decentralized finance. Stanford will particularly value the mission-driven aspect of democratizing access to finance.
Your early exposure in Indonesia/Singapore and 30-country travel history add a global mindset schools like LBS and INSEAD prize. Post-MBA entrepreneurship is credible; make sure to articulate learnings from your past ventures and how the MBA bridges to your next one.
This is a differentiated profile; with stronger positioning and possibly a retake to ~735 Focus, M7 odds go up significantly.
Thank you for sharing your profile @kbsama! Your trajectory as a repeat entrepreneur with multiple startup roles (founder, chief of staff, global BD lead) is valuable: Built, scaled, and exited at least one venture. Raised $5M+ funding. Demonstrated grit: including winding down a startup, a real-world leadership experience many applicants gloss over but schools appreciate when narrated authentically. This will be a differentiator. 6+ years spent abroad, around 30 countries visited, and BD roles across geographies demonstrate intercultural fluency and adaptability, highly aligned with INSEAD, LBS, MIT Sloan, and increasingly even US schools looking for global leaders. Wanting to work in DeFi/fintech with a goal of “taking finance to every person’s fingertips” is ambitious but values-driven and future-oriented, and this resonates well with programs like Wharton (fintech), MIT (digital economy), and Stanford (purpose-driven leadership). While 705 is a good score on the GMAT Focus, it will be slightly low for schools like HBS, GSB, or Wharton, especially for Indian male applicants (an overrepresented pool). If time allows, retaking for 20+ points would be good, especially to position strongly at HSW/MIT. If not, double down on differentiators in your essays and recommendation letters: communicate why your experience is rare and how you’ll add unique value.
"Entrepreneurship in DeFi" sounds exciting, but make sure you define the “how” and “why now”. Adcoms are increasingly cautious about “buzzwordy” goals.
You can structure it as: What problem are you solving? Why is DeFi the solution? Why now, and why MBA is the catalyst? How have past experiences already laid the foundation?
QUESTIONS TO REFLECT & STRENGTHEN YOUR APPLICATION 1. What was the most difficult decision you had to make as a founder? How did it shape you? 2. Which leadership experience best shows your ability to influence without authority? 3. How have your failures or setbacks contributed to your personal growth? 4. Why is now the right time for an MBA, given your rich experience already? 5. How do you plan to scale your DeFi vision, and how is it inclusive?
We’d love to learn more about your professional experience and personal journey so we can offer a more tailored assessment of your profile and evaluate your chances at your target schools more accurately. If you'd like, feel free to book a profile evaluation session.

@kbsama, Great to see your profile check nearly every box. Going against a few opinions here, does your profile present an oustanding case? NO That said, presented well, your decent GPA at a reputed college does check their academic capability box; GMAT is also decent enough to get you invites; the key part is to convince the adcoms of the passion in you that can assure them of the replicability of your success. That is largely where Stanford, MIT and Harvard will bite the bait. LBS & Wharton will also place due emphasis on your entrepreneurial journey (though the why and the how will define the importance that your stories can command. Your LT goal of democratizing Finance can also be very helpful in convincing Booth, Stanford and LBS, the most important part continues being the how and the passion behind your journey...

Finished BSc in Banking & Finance in 2021 from a Greek University with 8.1/10 GPA.
2 years of experience in Transaction Advisory at an accounting firm and in Strategy at a Logistics Firm. CFA L2 Passed in May 2025 Now preparing for GMAT Focus. Must get at least 565 to apply for RSM Msc Finance and Investments. LBS MIF gives GMAT waiver to those who passed CFA L2
Hi, you’ve built a quant and finance-forward foundation with CFA L2 and advisory/strategy roles, that’s strong for Masters in Finance paths.
LBS offers GMAT waivers for CFA L2 holders, making it an accessible match. A GMAT threshold of ~565 is needed for Rotterdam MSc; if your score lands above that, it opens you up nicely.
Your prior experience plus finance credentials help offset any concerns around institutional depth. Essays should emphasize your CFA aptitude, client exposure across geographies, and ability to transition quickly into capital markets roles.
You’re on track for both the LBS and Rotterdam programs, execution will confirm match.
Hey @GMATFaker, Strengths: 1. Diversity in demographics 2. CFA L2 (a full CFA would make your profile much stronger) & strong GPA
Unknowns: 1. Your roles (and achievements) in industries of accounting and Logistrics are not very clear. 2. Employer brand; good brands will get you farther 3. International Experience, whether or not within your own country, can get better results. 4. STRONGLY ADVISE you to get a good GMAT/ GRE score (635+/ 320+ score could get you into top schools. GMAT Waivers or the lowest minimum requirements are neither assuring you admits, nor suggested for your post MIF employability considerations.

I’m a CFA charterholder with over six years of experience in M&A, investment strategy, and value creation, currently working as a Manager at PwC Deals Strategy in the UAE. My work spans the full transaction lifecycle — from target screening and synergy modeling to post-deal value creation — across sectors such as maritime, retail, mobility, and digital platforms. I’ve advised leading private equity, venture capital, and sovereign funds on cross-border deals across the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.
Academically, I hold a Master’s in Business Valuation and Corporate Finance and a Bachelor’s in International Economic Relations from top-tier university in Russia. Since 2024 I’m also a CFA charterholder having passed level 3 exam. Beyond work, I’ve been active in music for over a decade (cello, violin, piano), performing in orchestras and contributing to charity events. I’m also a long-time snowboarder and water sports enthusiast. I’m now exploring an MBA to accelerate my move into principal investing (private equity, M&A, Venture), sharpen my strategic and leadership toolkit, and build a global peer network.
Hi Daniil, this is a top-tier advisory profile with global footprint across Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.
INSEAD, LBS, and IESE are natural fits given your sector depth and cross-border exposure. Your CFA and Master's in finance broadcast clear credibility.
The narrative you should build: “Transitioning from advisory execution to decision-maker via PE/VC” with measurable deal outcomes and value-add insights. Leadership in your teams and diversity of work across regions will resonate strongly.
Your impact-driven background and multi-sector strategic depth make you a standout investorship candidate.
Thank you for sharing your profile @DaniilSled. 8 years in M&A/strategy with broad cross-border exposure in emerging and developed markets. Depth in end-to-end transaction lifecycle and diverse industry sectors. Manager at PwC Strategy. This kind of exposure is valued by top MBA programs, especially INSEAD, IESE, and LBS, which often attract candidates moving from advisory to buy-side investing or strategy leadership. A 3.8 GPA, CFA Charter, and a Master’s in Finance from a reputable institution will neutralize any academic concerns.
You have a logical post-MBA transition. Programs like INSEAD and LBS particularly appreciate candidates aiming for principal investing roles, especially with an international/MENA context. Your decade-long classical music involvement, orchestra performances, and community events add a human dimension. Adcoms love applicants who blend sharp business skills with creativity and culture. Hobbies like snowboarding and water sports signal energy, curiosity, and leadership beyond work.
You didn’t mention a GMAT/GRE score. Even with a stellar background, you require a test score. Target GMAT Focus score of 675+ or a GRE score 325+ with strong Quant (>160).
Tip: Even with CFA, you still need a score at most of these schools. CFA + 3.8 GPA = helpful context but not a full replacement.
At 8 years of experience (and likely 30 or 31 at matriculation), you're at the upper end for traditional MBAs. Not a red flag at INSEAD, IESE, or LBS (average age ~29), but craft your story around: Why MBA now? What gaps are you solving for? Why not an Executive MBA or specialized finance programs (like LBS MiF)?
If you frame this well (especially in your essays and interviews), age/experience won’t be a blocker.
Questions for you: 1. Have you taken or planned your GMAT/GRE? If yes, what's the score? If not, when will you take it? 2. Can you share more details about the scale and impact of deals you've worked on (like deal sizes, cross-border exposure, client seniority)? 3. Do you plan to return to the MENA/EE region long-term or stay in Europe post-MBA?
Your goal of pivoting into principal investing is realistic, especially with your M&A pedigree, CFA, and multicultural deal experience. Your hobbies and musical background further enrich your story, don’t underestimate their value.
"What will truly set you apart is how you tie your past experience with your post-MBA goals and your ‘why now, why this school’ rationale."

Hey Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks compelling and well-rounded. With 8 years of experience, a 3.8 GPA, and a CFA charter, you’re entering the MBA process from a position of strength, particularly for finance-savvy, globally oriented programs like INSEAD, IESE, and LBS. Your current role at PwC Deals Strategy in the UAE, covering cross-border M&A across multiple regions and sectors, is exactly the kind of diverse exposure European schools love.
Your mix of strategic advisory and post-deal value creation aligns well with your goal of transitioning into principal investing. INSEAD and IESE are particularly strong in placing into PE/VC roles in Europe and emerging markets, and they’ll value both your technical expertise and your leadership trajectory. Add to that your unique musical background and personal passions, these bring out a human and creative dimension that can really stand out in European programs that value holistic, multicultural profiles.
What specifically is driving your move from consulting into investing, what gaps do you hope the MBA will fill? And how do you plan to position your regional deal experience for global investing ambitions post-MBA?
ARINGO is offering a free LinkedIn profile optimization, a great way to align your online presence with your goals in PE and venture investing.
I’d also be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target MBA programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help! No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
Hey @DaniilSled, Strengths: 1. Diversity in demographics 2. CFA & strong GPA from top tier University 3.Work experience across the full transaction lifecycle. 4. Top Brand employer 5. International Experience
Unknown: GMAT/ GRE; For a consulting role, a 695+/ 329+ score could get you into the M7s with significant scholarships, maybe a full ride as well. Personally I wouldn't recommend IESE. LBS and even IMD would give you access to top financial institutions of the World.
Hope that helps. For a free, 1-to-1 profile review over the phone, please submit your profile on TheIvyLeagueEdge(dot)com/index(dot)php/contactus/
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and have worked full-time in the IT sector for three years while completing my studies. This experience allowed me to fund my education, which I pursued in Poland, Europe. Having recently graduated, I am now looking to apply to any top-tier MBA programs to further my career.
My long-term goal is to become an entrepreneur, with a focus on driving positive change in Africa, my home continent. I’ve already taken the first steps in this journey, but I believe an MBA will equip me with the skills, networks, and strategic insights necessary to make a more significant impact and contribute to the continent's development.
Nice background and aspirational career goals. Just wondering how you worked full time and got a degree - unless you were in an evening school. Usually b-schools consider post undergrad work exp as full time experience, so you should check with your target programs on this, as your eligibility may depend on this (in terms of number of years of full time employment) .

Hi, a pragmatic, mission-driven applicant with engineering and tech exposure who wants to scale entrepreneurial impact in Africa. With no test score yet, aim for GMAT 695+ to support access to M7 and INSEAD scholar opportunities.
You have the raw elements: maturity (funding own education), regional perspective, and future ambition. Essays should explain how education in Europe or the U.S. can amplify impact in African markets. Programs like Stanford (SEED), Harvard, and INSEAD all have strong African entrepreneurial pipelines.
With the right GMAT and a well-structured impact arc, your story is compelling and distinct.
Hey @byiringiro, While your WE while studying may present a very good case for MiM programs (or Deferred/ 2+2 MBA programs), it wmay not qualify you for FT MBA programs. Please check before you invest more time and money into this.

I am a Computer Science graduate from VIT Vellore, having completed my degree in May 2025 with a CGPA of 8.18, complemented by strong academic performance in school (80% in Class 10, 86% in Class 12). I have scored 695 (98th percentile) in the GMAT Focus Edition.
Beyond academics, I am the technical founder of Brooski, a hyperlocal gig platform aimed at solving service accessibility challenges in India’s Tier 2/3 cities. My entrepreneurial journey has given me hands-on experience in product design, user research, and early-stage business strategy, as well as exposure to market validation.
I have also completed a six-month industrial internship, where I worked on real-world software development projects.
Hey Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, a 695 GMAT FE paired with an 8.18 CGPA in Computer Science from VIT makes you academically very competitive. Your school grades are solid too, and top European schools like INSEAD, HEC, ESSEC, and LBS will appreciate your entrepreneurial mindset and tech foundation at such an early stage.
Founding Brooski, a platform addressing real-world problems in Tier 2/3 India, gives you a practical and mission-driven edge. That kind of hands-on startup and product experience, along with your exposure to user research and strategy, will really resonate at schools like INSEAD and HEC, which look for future leaders with global potential. Your profile is also a good fit for Booth's MiM, which values analytical rigor and early leadership.
What’s your long-term vision for Brooski, do you plan to return to it post-MiM, or are you looking to build tech leadership experience first? And how are you planning to showcase your leadership and teamwork experience from college and your startup?
Also, to help sharpen your positioning across platforms, ARINGO is offering a free LinkedIn profile optimization, which can help you better align your story for both adcoms and recruiters.
I’d also be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target MiM programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help! No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
Hi @aaron102, Adding to the already strengths in your profile, given your ORM status (Indian Male Engineer), you have done well to differentiate yourself with your Internship, and your Entrepreneurial work. At TheIvyLeague Edge, having helped many applicants to admissions to their dream programs with scholarships, I can confidently see that you could project great applications. INSEAD, LBS & HEC in the same order, will also want your post MiM goals to be expressed with articulate clarity, your LORs to list your demonstrable behavioral traits, and your application to tie it all together with a unifying theme.
Hope that helps. For a free, 1-to-1 profile review over the phone, please submit your profile on TheIvyLeagueEdge(dot)com/index(dot)php/contactus/
For an MiM applicant, you have a strong academic base, a Computer Science degree from VIT with an 8.18 CGPA, plus excellent school performance. Your GMAT Focus score (695, 98th percentile) is highly competitive for MiM programs at INSEAD, HEC, LBS, and ESSEC.
Your entrepreneurial experience as the technical founder of Brooski is the centerpiece of your profile. A hyperlocal gig platform addressing service gaps in Tier 2/3 India demonstrates problem-solving, innovation, and market awareness. Make sure you clearly communicate traction, number of users, partnerships, funding (if any), or pilots. This real-world execution experience will stand out compared to most MiM applicants who often lack substantial work exposure.
The six-month internship adds applied technical experience, but for your target programs, they’ll want to see how you translate tech expertise into leadership potential and cross-functional collaboration. Emphasize decision-making, market research, and product strategy over coding tasks.
Given your entrepreneurial ambitions, frame your post-MiM goals as tech-enabled business leadership, positioning the MiM as the bridge from product creation to global scaling. Also, highlight soft skills, adaptability, cultural fluency, and communication, as they’re critical for consulting or tech leadership tracks.

Hi @Rajkoushik_17, Without givig the details of your GMAT/GRE, College name or ranking, employer details, ECs etc, if you want experienced Admissions Consultants to give you advice, not only are you wasting their time, but also your own time as well, since all you get would be generic advice (if it is sugar coated to help you believe what you want to believe, you would be in a much worse off condition).
Hey @bala I didn't know the exact details you required to process. The details are as mentioned below
Preparing for GMAT right now, shall appear within the next 15 days targetting a score of 735 GMAT FE, I passed out from NIT Surat( Mechanical Engineering) in 2021. I've been working with Jindal Steel, Please comment if any other details are required. Really appreciate you wrote back instead of directly avoiding.
Hi Raj Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, with 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, with strong achievements in capex-intensive expansion projects, cost savings of INR 2+ Cr, cross-functional collaboration, commercial negotiations, and operational optimization leading to significant efficiency gains you bring a strong perspective.
Your academic foundation from NIT Surat looks solid. Targeting a 735 GMAT FE will position you competitively for your target schools. While your leadership impact and tangible results are impressive, you will also need to strongly highlight leadership potential, career clarity, and international readiness. It would also help to know more about your extracurricular involvement, leadership outside work, and global exposure to refine school recommendations and strengthen your application positioning.
Also, to help sharpen your positioning across platforms, ARINGO is offering a free LinkedIn profile optimization, which can help you better align your story for both adcoms and recruiters.
I’d also be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target MBA programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help! No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
You bring a strong operations and project management foundation from a capex-heavy manufacturing environment, a background that is less saturated compared to tech and finance applicants from India. Your quantified achievements (₹2.2 Cr cost savings, 90+ man-days saved, cross-functional negotiation experience) are exactly the kind of measurable impact admissions committees like to see. The Google Project Management certificate also signals initiative and upskilling.
For M7 and elite European programs (INSEAD, LBS, HEC), the challenge is differentiation within the Indian male applicant pool. You’ll need to frame your work not only in terms of operational efficiency but also in terms of strategic business outcomes, linking plant-level successes to broader supply chain, sustainability, and market competitiveness. If you can connect your consulting post-MBA goals to these global-scale challenges, you’ll build a far more compelling narrative.
Your GPA is strong, but you didn’t mention a GMAT score, for the schools you’re targeting, aim for 720+ classic equivalent to remain competitive. Adding even short-term international project exposure, or showcasing how your work impacts global markets, will further strengthen your profile.

I've spent the last 8 years working on the creative side of the entertainment industry for a major network and streamer. I have an undergrad degree in business and would like to use the MBA to pivot more towards business strategy roles. I have interest in getting started in consulting directly following and utilizing that to move towards in-house strategy.
Ideally I'd like a location that will allow me to eventually return to the West Coast. I'd also like a program located within or near a major city so my wife can continue to work.
1. A higher GMAT score will surely help. Think 695+ 2. After achieving that score, dd some more schools that are known for close ties with entertainment industry- UCLA. Haas, MArshall, NYU Stern, CBS
Namita Garg, Founder, MBA Decoder Email: [email protected] Reach out to us for a Profile Evaluation Helping applicants achieve their MBA dreams since 2011
Thank you for sharing your profile @IB94. 8 years in creative roles at leading entertainment companies stand out in a pool full of finance/tech consultants. This differentiation is an asset. A 3.95 GPA, especially in business, is nice. This proves your intellectual capability and helps offset the lower GMAT Focus score. 635 GMAT FE is below the median for M7 and top U.S./UK programs. It's especially notable at Stanford, Kellogg, Haas, and LBS. Try to retake, aiming for 695+. Aiming to pivot to consulting before moving in-house is a well-trodden, practical route. Schools appreciate applicants with clarity and realism. As a U.S. citizen with a creative background, you stand out demographically. Diversity of thought, experience, and industry will work in your favor. Your interest in urban programs and long-term West Coast plans makes sense and can be a strength in your “Why This School” essays.
Strong work on the essays and recommendations is critical to offset the GMAT score. The optional essay should contextualize the score while emphasizing strengths elsewhere. While your goal is logical, the move from a creative role to MBB/strategy firms is less direct. You’ll need to showcase transferable skills: analytical thinking, project management, collaboration, executive communication, and problem-solving.
Tap into communities like Management Consulting, LinkedIn MBA/Consulting networks, or alumni from your undergrad.
Questions to consider: 1. What specific project or moment made you realize you wanted to move from creative work into strategic leadership? 2. Have you ever had to lead cross-functional business decisions or develop a business case for creative pitches? 3. Can you show metrics-driven impact? (like audience growth, revenue increase, cost efficiency) 4. How do you define your leadership style, and how have you applied it in team settings?
We would love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, professional experience, and personal journey so we can offer a more tailored assessment of your profile and evaluate your chances and discuss school selection more accurately. If you'd like, feel free to book a profile evaluation session.

Hi, the 3.95 GPA from a U.S. undergrad is excellent, and your 8 years in a highly creative role at a major media company adds uniqueness. However, the 635 GMAT Focus is well below median even for non-M7s, especially if you're targeting schools like Stanford and Kellogg.
Your pivot to consulting is logical and achievable, but admissions committees will need to see structured thinking and business readiness. I'd strongly recommend retaking the GMAT to get to at least 665–685 range. Foster, Kenan-Flagler, and LBS are solid cultural fits, especially if you position your transition with clear post-MBA deliverables.
Hey @IB94, Your Strength(s): Strong GPA (Would be better, if it came from a top brand College) Weakness(es): 1. Weak GMAT (695+ would be good for Stanford; even for others (possibly your safety school - Kenan Flagler), a GMAT of a 675+ would be better 2. No direct connect between your work in "the creative side of the entertainment industry" to "consulting, or inhouse strategy". You would need to articulate the goals better, and not only project better employability, but also show the MBA could help you as a tool that you could utilize well. 3. You could probably do better in your choice of schools, to fit your past and future plans better

Experience - 2.5 Years in Auditing and Taxation, 3 years in Teaching (had 2 CA ranker holders in first two batches ever taught), 3 years in Product Management (Current. Started as Business Analyst, promoted to Product Manager and Data Science Lead after 1.5 years)
Additional Points - Working as Visiting faculty in an MBA/ Commerce school along with current job; Youtube Channel for Teaching with 8.7k subscribers.
Extra curricular - Learning singing, harmonium (completed 3 certified classical exams in India long back, now resumed learning); Can speak 3 Languages fluently, 1 language semi-fluent and 1 language at above beginner level (Self- Learning in progress - no formal course/ education)
Wow, what a high GMAT score. Congratulations on that! What makes this special is that you are an older applicant and usually getting such high scores for the older folks is not so easy as they have been away from the academic grunt for many years.
Overall, i see several positives in your profile. You have experimented and pivoted your career several times, which shows adaptability and a go-getter attitude . That said, for your post MBA goals, the adcoms would like to see some continuity with what you currently do. So, IMO, don't come up with career goals that sound far fetched or entirely different from the experience you have built so far.
Your work as faculty and teacher through Youtube shows consistency in your passion for teaching. Needless to say, having a popular channel is a great achievement and can teach you several skills like understanding customer needs and delivering on them- something that aligns with your prod management role. have you been able to monetize the YT channel? That would be another plus point to add to your resume.
Your age will not be a deal breaker for MBA admission. However, as an older applicant, you must answer a few questions- why is now the best time for you to do an MBA? What is hindering you from getting the roles you wish and make an MBA mandatory?
Also, select your b-schools wisely as you would want to be in a cohort where you can find people in your age and experience bracket. This is important as you want to maximize your learning from other people. If your wife plans to join you, then having a good partner's club on campus can also be a consideration. Your 3 target b-schools look alright, but you may want to add a few other European options. Do note that INSEAD prefers applicants with international experience. Even if you have not travelled abroad, you would want to show that you have an evolved world view and you can work in teams with diverse people. All the best and feel free to reach out.

Hey, your profile is one of the rare "multi-hyphenates" that makes for an interesting story.
CA rankholder, 3 years in EdTech/teaching with top student outcomes, and now pivoted into PM/Data Science with upward progression, it’s a compelling narrative. The GMAT Focus score (775) is elite and offsets your undergrad GPA (63%).
Your challenge will be narrative clarity: tie together your accounting roots, education impact, and tech product roles into a logical arc that flows into consulting. INSEAD and ISB are strong fits; for IIMA PGPX, be prepared to clearly defend your pivot from CA to DS to Consulting. Consider expanding to LBS or Oxford if interested in Europe.
Thank you for sharing your profile @aspirant_2026. Exceptional test score (775 GMAT Focus), congratulations, this puts you in the top position globally, and helps overcome any doubts from your undergrad GPA. You can briefly explain it in optional essays without sounding defensive, then pivot to what you learned or improved upon later (CA success, GMAT, etc.). From Audit/Tax to teaching to Product + Data science to Academia (visiting faculty), you demonstrate versatility, depth, and leadership across industries and functions. Promoted fast in product roles, built a teaching brand from scratch, and led a team in a tech setup. Prestigious and globally understood credential. It will matter deeply at IIMs and ISB, and give you analytical credibility at places like INSEAD. Music, languages, and YouTube teaching make your profile well-rounded, not just a number. Your Teaching experience is a differentiator, especially since you were successful (Rank holders in batches).
With such a diverse background, you must tighten your story arc: Why move from teaching to product management? Why MBA now, when you’ve already scaled up? Why consulting and what kind? How do your past roles make you uniquely suited to succeed in consulting?
You can also explore schools like IMD (Switzerland), LBS, Kellogg, Fuqua, Ross, HEC Paris, ESADE and and IESE.
Questions for you to reflect upon: 1. What kind of consulting excites you- strategy, tech, transformation, or financial advisory? 2. Do you intend to work globally after the MBA, or return to India in 2-3 years? 3. Are you interested in entrepreneurship post-MBA as well, given your YouTube and faculty experience? 4. How have you demonstrated people leadership (team management, mentoring, stakeholder influence)?
We would love to learn more about your professional experience and personal journey so we can offer a more tailored assessment of your profile and evaluate your chances at your target schools more accurately. If you'd like, feel free to book a profile evaluation session.

Hey @aspirant_2026, As many have already pointed out above, you have demonstrated talent across multiple directions. Hereon, it is very important to be able to TIE all these together in a unified theme, that presents all these as a well planned out career chart. That is also why it is very important to get an application that is not just compelling, but also makes the schools invest in a successful future leader in you. Instead of your current choice of schools, where you may face stiff competition, I would strongly suggest you to look at a wider net, which could not only get you stellar scholarships, but also get you loans without collaterals from Top 20 programs.
Hope that helps. For a free, 1-to-1 profile review over the phone, please submit your profile on TheIvyLeagueEdge(dot)com/index(dot)php/contactus/
Hey Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you have an amazing GMAT score, congratulations! Your GMAT score will make your profile stand out. You also bring a rich and diverse 9 years of professional experience across multiple domains, starting with auditing and taxation as a Chartered Accountant, followed by teaching where you coached CA rank-holders in your very first batches, and the last 3 years in product management and data science leadership, including a quick promotion from Business Analyst to Product Manager and Data Science Lead, this rare mix of finance, education, technology, and leadership experience adds strong versatility to your candidacy.
Your academic strength is evident from your CA rank, CAT percentile, and your GMAT score. The additional dimensions, such as working as visiting faculty at an MBA/Commerce school, building an educational YouTube channel, and multilingual abilities, create a compelling, well-rounded profile. On the personal front, your classical music learning journey shows cultural depth and personal passion.
You are well-positioned academically and professionally for your target schools. Your main application challenge will be articulating a clear post-MBA consulting goal that ties together your diverse career path, while highlighting leadership impact, adaptability, and global mindset.
To help sharpen your positioning across platforms, ARINGO is offering a free LinkedIn profile optimization, which can help you better align your story for both adcoms and recruiters.
I’d also be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target MBA programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help! No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
Hi @asperioreseum! We would love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, professional experience, and personal journey so we can offer a more tailored assessment of your profile and evaluate your chances at your target schools more accurately. If you'd like, feel free to book a profile evaluation session.
Your have a strong and well-rounded profile - early leadership roles, and a compelling story of grit—working during college, supporting your family post-COVID, and tutoring to earn income and it aligns with what ISB looks for in high-potential candidates. Professionally, your trajectory at Amazon, from operations to strategy to compliance, with leadership and mentoring experience demonstrates growth and adaptability. Your transition to full-time entrepreneurship adds a strong narrative of ownership. While your undergrad GPA is modest, you should target to offset that with a GMAT score of 675+ to boost academic competitiveness. Overall, your profile shows resilience, initiative, and leadership, traits which are highly valued.
Feel free to book a free call with our MBA experts for a more detailed discussion. You can also contact us directly at [email protected] or +91-7780769732.
A few points: 1. Your Amazon experience sounds compelling. Amazon operations is a challenging and meaningful job with lots of opportunities to take initiative, challenge the status quo and show real, quantifiable impact. Also, three years is good enough time to build up on your achievements. So you should definitely capitalize on this experience and mention stories of impact and learning in this experience, ISB's essays this year with focus on experiential learning and intellectual experiences will give you a good window to mention your examples. 2. I like the food truck business too, Again your experiences here will give you ammo for b-school essays 3. while your certifications won't hold much importance in admissions, but your volunteering work sounds meaningful - 2 years of volunteering at AMazon is good. what were your projects like? Were these related to initiatives for the Amazon employee community or were they external? Either way, you can glean some achievements from this experience and that can add towards showing consistent leadership capability. All the best to you and feel free to reach out. With a good GMAT score, you should have a good shot as ISB if you play your cards right while building the application.

Hi @quianihil, as has already been detailed above, your WE and transitions across roles in Amazon, and then to your own entrepreneurial stint can be played well (although it would truly depend on how you demonstrated your food truck business as a career move). Assuming the other factors in your Applications, esp the LORs are strongly drafted, I would still see it very difficult for you to achieve an impressive post-MBA outcome from ISB. In fact, I would strongly suggest you to look at a wider net, both to access scholarships, but also get you loans without collaterals from Top 20 programs.
Hope that helps. For a free, 1-to-1 profile review over the phone, please submit your profile on TheIvyLeagueEdge(dot)com/index(dot)php/contactus/
Hi, your profile brings outstanding depth, maturity, and leadership. Two decades in the Indian Army with a technical edge (M.Tech in Structural Engineering) and large-scale infrastructure oversight places you in the rare, high-impact applicant pool.
Your GMAT Focus score of 685 (~650 GMAT classic) is slightly below average for INSEAD and Stanford MSx, but your exceptional leadership, global operations exposure, and academic rigor (Top 1% of class) strongly offset that. For MIT Sloan Fellows, Stanford MSx, and USC IBEAR, you’re a highly competitive candidate due to your age, seniority, and intent to pivot to global roles in sustainable infrastructure and supply chain.
Your story resonates with schools looking for real-world problem solvers with strategic vision. Highlight cross-functional, inter-agency coordination, measurable project impacts, and how your MBA goals tie into national transformation narratives.
This is a mission-driven, globally relevant profile, positioned to lead.
Hey Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, with 20 years of military experience in infrastructure, logistics, and leadership, you are entering the MBA pool with a uniquely valuable and globally relevant background. Your M.Tech in Structural Engineering and a 685 GMAT, paired with an EA score of 163, place you well for your target programs, where maturity, leadership, and a global outlook are highly valued.
Your work in strategic project execution, defense infrastructure, and multi-state operations oversight speaks to high-stakes decision-making and large-scale impact, qualities that top executive-format MBAs seek. Schools like Sloan Fellows, Stanford MSx, and USC IBEAR are designed for experienced leaders like you aiming to pivot or scale impact. Your goal to enter global sustainable operations and eventually uplift India's infrastructure ecosystem shows clear vision and purpose.
How are you preparing for the culture shift from public service to private sector leadership, and do you have examples of cross-sector or international collaboration? Also, have you begun mapping out how your military leadership will translate to corporate operations or supply chain roles post-MBA?
Also, to help sharpen your positioning across platforms, ARINGO is offering a free LinkedIn profile optimization, which can help you better align your story for both adcoms and recruiters.
I’d also be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target MBA programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help! No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
Hey @NSK1984, Having helped experienced uniformed and corporate professionals to top schools Fellows program, I can see MIT would be a great fit for your WE & Profile, thought IBEAR, Stanford & maybe even LBS would consider your application very seriously. Without additional insights into your profile, I would also recknon that NUS, ISB, Oxford Said & Cambridge Judge may not help you get your desired employment outcomes.
For each of the fellow programs, however, it will be extremely important to emphasize and demonstrate your passion.
Hope that helps. For a free, 1-to-1 profile review over the phone, please submit your profile on TheIvyLeagueEdge(dot)com/index(dot)php/contactus/
Almost 6 years into Financial, Analytics and FinTech consulting, I am planning to move into IB. I have been into top 10% and top 5% in my undergrad and postgrad so far.
I have good number of extracurricular achievements, international experience and academic achievements. I don't have promotions but a few awards so far as I had to switch companies because of various reasons.
Awesome profile! Congrats on the 330! Big push for the R2 I see, which is awesome since it gives you time to prep a stronger application. Not sure I can add a lot of value, but here are a few things - App Fee Waivers: https://gmatclub.com/forum/list-of-all- ... 67465.html
I would also recommend Johnson - they have IB connections and placements as well as Stern (since they are in NYC, though you already have Columbia).
Your profile has some strong elements that could benefit you when applying to top global MBA programs. You need to craft compelling essays that explain your career goals, how an MBA fits into your plans, and how you will contribute to the MBA program's community. Strong letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your potential and accomplishments will also be important.
Your decision to transition from consulting to investment banking is a compelling narrative, and if you can present it effectively in your application, you have a good chance of being admitted to a top MBA program.
i am sharing my complete profile,i want fair assesement of my profile for top b schools mba however i am targeting only top b schools so help me accordinlgy 10th-2009-80%(GSEB) Diploma Electrical-2012-8.6(GTU) Degree Electrical-2016-8.12(GTU) 1 year technical work experience-2017-2018 5 Year Edtech from BDA to sales Manager at BYJUS-2018-2022 1.5 Year Senior Manager to General Manager Sales in Abroad Education-2022-2024 1 year Abroad Education Post of Sales Head-2024-current Along with this i have small small start up achievements not too big while i was in college. i am targeting Oxford cambridge LBS Imperial Warwick Insead HEC Kellogg NYU Harvard Stanford Wharton any other tops
for uk schools & Europe schools Deadlines are nearby & unfortunately i have started preparation of Gmat just a week back! Confused what to do.
Thanks for sharing your profile @Giriraj1405! Moved from BDA at BYJU’S to Sales Head in Abroad Education in ~6 years shows upward mobility. Handled both domestic and international markets; this cross-market experience adds depth. You've held managerial and general manager-level roles. Schools like LBS, INSEAD, and HEC especially value people leadership, and your experience could resonate well. Though you mention your startup efforts were small, any evidence of entrepreneurial grit is helpful, especially at INSEAD and Stanford, which are entrepreneur-friendly programs.
You’re coming from an unconventional industry mix (EdTech + Study abroad consulting + Technical background), which makes your story unique if framed correctly. No GMAT score yet. This is the most urgent challenge.
Follow-up questions for you: 1. Do you plan to pivot into consulting or continue in sales leadership post-MBA? 2. Are you considering applying for 1-year vs. 2-year MBA programs? (like INSEAD vs. Kellogg FT) 4. Have you built international collaborations in your recent roles? 5. Any managerial P&L, GTM strategy, or digital transformation experience you can highlight?
We would love to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, professional experience, and personal journey so we can offer a more tailored assessment of your profile and evaluate your chances at your target schools more accurately. Hi Giriraj Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you have built a strong 8-year career with real leadership progression, from sales roles at BYJU'S to heading abroad education initiatives. This upward mobility, especially in high-growth sectors, is a solid asset. Your GPA is decent, but as an Indian male with an engineering background, your GMAT will play a crucial role, especially for top U.S. and European schools.
Schools like INSEAD, LBS, and Kellogg will appreciate your global exposure and leadership, while places like H/S/W will want a mission-driven story with broader impact. The shift from sales to consulting must be clearly explained, as adcoms will look for clarity and purpose. You have a long list of schools that you are targeting, focus on categorizing your school list into, target, reach and safety schools, this will help you get more clarity. To move forward smartly, it will be crucial for you to highlight the motivation behind your pivot to consulting.
I’d also be happy to offer you a free profile review for your target MBA programs to see where you stand and how to boost your chances, happy to help! No pressure, no strings - just helpful insights on where you stand and how you can strengthen your chances.
Hi, this is a high-velocity career trajectory with serious brand and leadership chops.
You’ve moved rapidly from EdTech BDA to Sales Head in abroad education, and your institutional experience is backed by managerial breadth. Your GPA (~8.12) is competitive. The crux now is the GMAT, which remains unknown. For top-tier schools (Harvard, Wharton, Stanford), aim for 730+ to match the brand and trajectory you’ve built.
Your school list spans M7, INSEAD, LBS, and other global leaders. I’d recommend prioritizing based on geographic preference and function alignment (globally-focused vs. U.S.-centric). You have a compelling story of scaling and leadership; clarity in the MBA rationale (why MBA and why now) will be key.
You’re in the upper echelons of non-traditional applicants. With the right GMAT and tight essays, you can play with the top cohort.
- GPA: 3.73 yet graduated #1 of my class - Top country college with 2 international semesters in Bocconi and SMU Singapore - Founded an association in college in business analytics - 2 internships (Procter & Gamble for 6 months and summer intern at McKinsey) - Schools faculty board and representative (representing +7000 students)
Work: - 3 years of experience in McKinsey by the time of start - Promoted to Associate after 1Y and 10 months of analyst, rated with distinctive performance (top 1% in all performance reviews) - 4 international projects (from Madrid office to: France, Germany, Puerto Rico and Peru). 3rd year to be done in Panama (official transfer)
Demographics: - First Generation student and gay
- GMAT --> yet I am applying to CBS with the Executive Assessment GMAT: 680 (old one), Q46 V38 Executive Assessment: 161. IR14, V11, Q16
- Post MBA goals: Returning to McKinsey, potentially back to Spain or to LATAM and long term exit a consumer company under strategy / finance or ops functions to climb the ladder and be CEO
Hello Miguel, thanks for sharing your details. Some thoughts:
1. Your academic record is strong, given the GPA, pedigree and international semesters. However, your GMAT Classic score of 680 is unfortunately below average for Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, and Columbia. A retake targeting 685+ (Focus Edition) would help increase chances.
2. Your professional experience is solid, given the McKinsey brand, promotion, international projects and upcoming transfer. Extracurriculars look interesting in undergrad, anything since then? As a first-generation student, these demographic aspects add a unique dimension to your profile and can be powerful differentiators in your essays.
3. Returning to McKinsey post-MBA is a common goal for candidates from your background, though the 'why MBA', 'why consulting' and 'why our school' angles would need strong differentiating narratives.
Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out through the links below for a deeper chat.
Your trajectory is good with McKinsey fast track, international project scope, first-gen status, and LGBTQ+ identity all adding unique angles.
The academic side is equally solid with a 3.75 GPA and dual global exchanges.
The biggest blocker right now is the 680 GMAT, which is well below par for HBS, GSB, and Wharton, even with a stellar resume. A retake could move the needle significantly as your profile has Top 3 potential if that piece is fixed.
If retaking is off the table, CBS is your best realistic shot among M7. We can also explore how to structure your reapp strategy if needed.
Thank you for sharing your impressive and well-rounded profile @miguelsergio355. You have a good foundation with standout elements that will appeal to top-tier MBA programs. Academically, your 3.75 GPA and graduating #1 in your class from a top university, with international semesters at Bocconi and SMU Singapore, show intellectual excellence and global exposure. These experiences, along with founding a student association and completing 2 internships, speak to both leadership and initiative during your undergraduate years.
Professionally, your 3 years at McKinsey with a rapid promotion to Associate and consistent top 1% performance evaluations reflect not only strong analytical and strategic capabilities but also your ability to thrive in high-pressure, results-oriented environments. The international nature of your project experience, including work in France, Germany, Puerto Rico, Peru, and an upcoming transfer to Panama, adds significant cross-cultural depth. This global footprint will be a major asset, particularly at schools that value international leadership potential like INSEAD, Wharton, and HBS.
Your goals post-MBA, returning to McKinsey with a long-term transition into a leadership role in the consumer goods sector, are both credible and compelling. The clarity of your career path shall work in your favor, especially with schools like Columbia and Wharton, which appreciate defined post-MBA goals. However, it will be essential that you explain why an MBA is needed now, despite your already accelerated trajectory at McKinsey. This is especially important for schools like Stanford and Harvard, where career momentum without an MBA can raise questions unless paired with a clearly articulated personal and professional inflection point. You can take a look at this blog on Importance of Personal Anecdotes
One clear area of improvement is your GMAT score of 680. While not disqualifying, it falls below the median for the M7 schools you're targeting, where scores typically hover in the 720-740 range. Try to get a higher score, 685+ could substantially boost your competitiveness, especially at Harvard, Stanford, and Wharton. If you feel there's room to improve and you have time available, it’s strongly recommended to consider a retake.
As you move forward, focus on deep, reflective essays that go beyond resume points to explore your motivations, challenges overcome, and values. Secure strong recommenders who can validate your leadership and interpersonal strengths. If you've contributed to LGBTQ+ initiatives or any form of DEI work at McKinsey, make sure to include those; they add powerful layers to your candidacy.
We’d love to understand more about your journey to provide a more accurate and personalized assessment of your profile. If you'd like, feel free to schedule a profile evaluation session.

"Entrepreneurship in DeFi" sounds exciting, but make sure you define the “how” and “why now”. Adcoms are increasingly cautious about “buzzwordy” goals.
You can structure it as:
What problem are you solving?
Why is DeFi the solution?
Why now, and why MBA is the catalyst?
How have past experiences already laid the foundation?
QUESTIONS TO REFLECT & STRENGTHEN YOUR APPLICATION

Great to see your profile check nearly every box.
Going against a few opinions here, does your profile present an oustanding case? NO
That said, presented well, your decent GPA at a reputed college does check their academic capability box; GMAT is also decent enough to get you invites; the key part is to convince the adcoms of the passion in you that can assure them of the replicability of your success.
