Thank you for the honest response. My GPA objectively seems low but I consistently got top 10 university and college ranks all through my undergrad program, just the marking system in my university was just very stingy. You think it would be wise to explain the context in the optional essays or mentioning the academic achievements and ranks in my resume would be enough?

Your GPA is a little on the lower end for these schools but you have a good GMAT score. Ensure that you are able to provide the reason for your low GPA (strict marking or something like being in the top 5% of your class or so.)
Post MBA goals are pretty clear and your education and work exp. trajectory supports it nicely.
You also need to make sure that your application essays reflect your strong professional experience. Do make sure that your post-MBA goals are clearly depicted in your application essays and how each specific school will be critical in helping you achieve the same. Also, consider reaching out to alums/ current students of these schools to know more about these programs.

Factors such as your awards&achievements, strengths, impact, leadership, unique qualities, work exp. and the value you bring to the B-school community all play a crucial role. I will be wary of anyone who tries to assure you that your 330 will get you into M7. Scores are a hygiene test to get into the consideration set. The rest is entirely dependent on many other aspects of your profile: what have been your achievements, your answers to various 'Why' in the essays, recommendation letters, even the tenure of your work experience, etc. Profiles from family businesses are always tricky because schools do not have much room to validate.

To drop Fuqua or not depends on your BATNA and risk appetite. I am sure you know the adage 'a bird in hand...'

Equally, your decisions shouldn't be revolving around the badge. Rather, it should be led by your career objectives.

Hi. it looks like you have applied already and I’m happy to share some thoughts but not sure how much you can leverage of it.

If you are indeed over represented, your test score is right on par with the schools average but likely 30 points below your peer average.

Going from software to consulting will be scrutinized as it is a meaningful shift. The admissions team will be evaluating your interview and your communication skills which tend to be critical for consultants. Will you be able to impress a consulting firm during an interview?

Areas that can strengthen your application on the other hand, would be having a strong brand name. Recruiters go through stacks of resumes and having a strong brand we at least get you selected for a second review or an interview.

Since you have submitted your application, I would strongly recommend perfecting and polishing your presentation and interview skills. Make sure you come off confident on video and you speak very clearly and engaging.

I think brief and clear optional essay talking about your GPA will handle most concerns taken into consideration your level of engagement and your test score.

if you’re looking at consulting, any reason you skipped INSEAD? no international experience?

Thanks for the response! Yep, no actual physical international presence just virtual. I did have a 2-week stint and an international conference that I was sponsored to attend, but a tiny little thing called COVID ruined those plans...

as you are saying you want to recruiting to consulting as your post MBA goal, you want to address the concern that that admissions may have about your potential employability and reality of this goal. Can you be engaging, can you be presenting yourself well in front of a client and would you well on the consulting interview?

This doesn’t mean you need to blow their socks off or do something amazing but you need to be thinking on your feet, not get easily stressed out and appear confident and certain in your plans and ideas. There is a debrief experience someone posted from a few days ago (would appreciate if you can share your experience as well as much as you’re comfortable sharing n the chat/forum).

Your GMAT is couple of points of lower for LBS, in the ballpark for the IMD program.

The second MBA and your MBB experience will position you quite well for these programs. EU programs tend to focus quite a bit on the international experience which is a positive for your profile. ME is a strong target market for these programs, hence you have aligned all elements of your profile well. Continue to work on your profile and maybe give the GMAT another shot to better your chances.

Their average is around 700/710. However, for some competitive groups you want to add 20 more points on top of it.

I think you have a fantastic and the really strong profile. Working in MBB is a big deal.

if you are open to working in the US, you should definitely apply to some US programs. Do you have a really strong shot at Stanford MSX as a program for slightly older candidates and frankly booth is also usually open to experienced applicants. I think the argument of wanting to move into PE in the United States or something like that is going to be a pretty strong one or at least good enough. I would recommend applying to five or seven US schools across the two rounds.

They are open as long as you can demonstrate the need in the second MBA. However, if one got a Law Degree, an MiM and then wanting an MBA, then it is clear that person is just collecting degrees and has no idea what to do with their life but if it is clear that you have a real goal and a real need, they are open.
P.S. There used to be a second MBA policy in the past but that has been stricken about 10+ years ago. Schools realized they were dinging great candidates that would be a great contribution to their class stats and alum base (something else to play up)

To your comment about applying to US programs- have you looked at Kellogg 1 year MBA? It takes a substantial number of Indian candidates who already have an MBA. And, you should apply to LBS as well. I take it that you are looking at other options still even after the HEC admit?

Yes I am. I have not applied to lot of schools and HEC application I did on my own. Want to consider LBS and M7

How are European programs with second MBA's? is that something you have to explain or they are not as inquisitive as the US counterparts?

Second MBA is well understood and appreciated by EU schools. There are ample examples of students going for a second MBA to schools like LBS, INSEAD, IMD and HEC which makes logical sense since the average class work ex in on the higher side when compared to US schools.

Check with them on the second MBA aspect. If LBS says ok to go ahead, then you can apply. It's a bit of a stretch, but worth a shot.
