you guys got it all right. But for 269 isnt that past perfect? so something had to stoped before another action begain.

Isnt Eurpeans plural so the verb "makes" should be "make"?

Europeans isnt the subject. the whole phrase "Europeans have long known that eating quail sometimes" is the subject so it must have the singular makes.

Past perfect is best for 269.
