I took GMAT 5th time and scored 660 (Q49 V30). Like everyone else in this forum, 700+ is my target score.
I ordered 3 ESRs hoping to see how I can improve my score.
For me, the two most helpful information from the 3 ESR are the sub-section rankings (Verbal) and Time management.
As you can see, I clearly need to improve my verbal score so I'll focus my story on verbal only.
For my last GMAT score (660), my ESR states:
First quartile, I spent 1:54 on correction questions and
4:27 on incorrect questions. (75% correct)
Second quartile, I spent 1:46 on correction questions and
3:07 on incorrect questions. (57% correct)
Third quartile, I spent 1:49 on correction questions and
2:19 on incorrect questions. (71% correct)
Fourth quartile, I spent 0:57 on correction questions and
0:19 on incorrect questions. (62% correct; I randomly guessed last 4-5 questions without reading the questions)
The trend continues for the 3 ESRs: I spent much more time on incorrect questions than on correct questions.
My questions:
1) Is this normal on actual GMAT that you spend more time on incorrect questions?
2) how do you know when to guess between 2-3 answers choices and move on? If you are struggling, it's probably a hard question and as we all know, you don't want to get the hard questions wrong. I know many on the forum advise test takers to guess and move on but it's just so difficult for me to do that. Part of that is because of my personality but I feel like if I read just little bit more, or thinking little bit more I can answer the question correctly.
Any suggestions?
I have taken over 20+ mocks in real setting and the time management wasn't a big issue.
I attached the ESRs. Please review and let me know if you have any suggestions to improve my score!
