How will the decision of temporary suspension of US visa by D.Trump affect the chances of International students planning to pursue an MBA in the US more specifically R1 applicants in the coming months? Honestly, things are going from bad to worse.

Simple Answer is bad! Im amazed that these top B-schools get hundreds of millions of dollars every year from talented international students but don't back them AT ALL when it comes to making immigration merit based. They lobby for all sorts of things but NEVER for making lives easier for students who are paying millions every year in fees. If you are from India/China, its better not to spend all that 200k in the US on top B school. If even you get H1B lottery (and that's a big IF as I personally know a Stanford grad who didnt get picked in that lottery), there's a 100 Year (yes Hundred Year) wait time for Indians to get Green Card and around 5/-7 yrs for Chinese citizens. What that means is, you can't start a business in the US all these years when you are waiting for GC. It's insanity. It's probably better to go to top program in UK/Canada or even India (ISB)/China (CEIBS) on scholarship.

The executive order doesnt impact H1b, but it is an election year and maybe more restrictions could be imposed on work visas. It deepens the uncertainty about doing an MBA in the US if you are non sponsored. I saw that UK launched a new graduate visa without cap. It will be an option for internationals for sure.
