(E) for me. It took me 02:12.

I am not sure what this sentence actually tries to convey here. So, let's wait for the OA. But, I chose (E) for the following reasons:

(E) Found in America and Canada, the star-nosed mole navigates its tunnels using its highly sensitive Eimer’s organs,
foraging for worms and insects and feeding so quickly that it can consume its prey in fewer than 120 milliseconds.
Foraging + funding seem to be two "parallel" verb-ing modifiers.
so x that y idiomatic usage is used.

You can eliminate (A), (B), and (C) for using plural subject "star-nosed moles" when there is "it" in the non-underlined portion of the sentence.

(D) can be eliminated because the subject "the star-nosed mole" in this choice has three non-parallel verbs ⁍ navigates, forages and it feeds quickly, connected incorrectly. Even if they were connected properly, it would have been wrong in my opinion.

IMO E

(A) star-nosed moles navigate their tunnels using highly sensitive Eimer’s organs and forage for worms and insects, feeding quickly enough --> SV error
(B) star-nosed moles navigate their tunnels using highly sensitive Eimer’s organs, they forage for worms and insects, and with such quick feedings --> SV error
(C) star-nosed moles use highly sensitive Eimer’s organs to navigate their tunnels, forage for worms and insects, and feed so quickly --> SV error
(D) the star-nosed mole navigates its tunnels using its highly sensitive Eimer’s organs, forages for worms and insects and it feeds quickly enough -> not parallel
(E) the star-nosed mole navigates its tunnels using its highly sensitive Eimer’s organs, foraging for worms and insects and feeding so quickly

(A) star-nosed moles navigate their tunnels using highly sensitive Eimer’s organs and forage for worms and insects, feeding quickly enough
"it" in the non underlined portion has no referent. Also it conveys a weird meaning; navigating and foraging helps moles somehow to feed quickly

(B) star-nosed moles navigate their tunnels using highly sensitive Eimer’s organs, they forage for worms and insects, and with such quick feedings
"it" in the non underlined portion has no referent. Also we have a comma splice [star nosed moles navigate..] an IC separated by a comma from another IC [they forage for worms and insects]. Lastly "and with such quick feedings..." breaks the parallelism

(C) star-nosed moles use highly sensitive Eimer’s organs to navigate their tunnels, forage for worms and insects, and feed so quickly
"it" in the non underlined portion has no referent.

(D) the star-nosed mole navigates its tunnels using its highly sensitive Eimer’s organs, forages for worms and insects and it feeds quickly enough
Parallelism is violated; navigates (verb) + forages(verb) + it feeds (a clause)

(E) the star-nosed mole navigates its tunnels using its highly sensitive Eimer’s organs, foraging for worms and insects and feeding so quickly
Correct
TBH, ı don't like this option either Meaning is off IMO. mole navigates tunnels by foraging and by feeding so quickly? No ı don't think so...
Also In option A, B, D and E "navigate tunnels using its highly sensitive..." is off. Though one can understand the meaning, "navigate tunnels by using..."would be much better and clearer, otherwise it absurdly seems like a restrictive participial modifying the tunnels...

"that it can consume its prey in fewer than 120 milliseconds" using the non underlined clause, A,B & C can be eliminated as "moles" creates SVA error
between D and E,
In D "forages for worms and insects and it feeds quickly enough", before "and we have a verb. after "and" we have a pronoun. not parallel
only E is left .so that must be the answer

My answer is (E). It took me 01:56.

(A) "star-nosed moles" does not agree with "it" in "it can consume its prey".

(B) "star-nosed moles" does not agree with "it" in "it can consume its prey".
Also: Comma splice.

(C) "star-nosed moles" does not agree with "it" in "it can consume its prey".

(D) To construct a list with three verb (navigates, forages, feeds), all three items should be parallel. For example:
the star-nosed mole navigates its tunnels using its highly sensitive Eimer’s organs, forages for worms and insects, and feeds quickly enough...

(E) No obvious error. (E) is the winner.

Experts' Global Official Explanation:

Pronouns + Meaning + Verb Forms + Modifiers + Parallelism

    • All elements in a list must be parallel.

A. This answer choice leads to a pronoun error; the sentence formed by Option A incorrectly uses the singular pronoun “it” to refer to the plural noun “star-nosed moles”.

B. This answer choice leads to a pronoun error; the sentence formed by Option B incorrectly uses the singular pronoun “it” to refer to the plural noun “star-nosed moles”. Further, Option B fails to maintain parallelism among the phrases “navigate their tunnels”, “they forage for worms and insects”, and “with such quick feedings”; please remember, all elements in a list must be parallel.

C. Trap. This answer choice leads to a pronoun error; the sentence formed by Option C incorrectly uses the singular pronoun “it” to refer to the plural noun “star-nosed moles”.

D. Trap. This answer fails to maintain parallelism among the phrases “navigates its tunnels”, “forages for worms and insects”, and the clause “it feeds quickly enough”; please remember, all elements in a list must be parallel.

E. Correct. This answer choice avoids the pronoun error seen in Options A, B, and C; the sentence formed by Option E correctly uses the singular pronoun “it” to refer to the singular noun “the star-nosed mole”. Further, Option E maintains parallelism among the present participle (“verb+ing”) modifier phrases “foraging for worms and insects” and “feeding so quickly that”, which both modify the clause “the star-nosed mole navigates its tunnels by its highly sensitive Eimer’s organs”.

E is the best answer choice.
