There are lots of questions regarding “not invited, what now?”
Fuqua’s admission policy and procedures change every year. In the past, there are several cases reported in GMATClub of people who were “not invited”, receive an interview during decision date, interviewed, and accepted.
Keep your heads up.
Can we expect Duke to throw some more light on what a pending decision means for EA applicants?
Does Duke want to see more applicants from R1/R2 before deciding on the candidature?
Those who are not invited are still being considered by the admissions committee by reviewing the applicant's file in details?
I presume 8 days is not enough time for a thorough review of the application since most of the applicants submit their applications just before the deadline date.
Will asking the admissions office help here?
- Pending decision means getting waitlisted, which essentially means that you were a border line applicant and Duke wants to see more R1/R2 applications before making a decision. Usually a wait listed applicant gets invited for an interview in the first go. In few cases, someone who was not interviewed might still get wait listed and then get invited later in the cycle.
- Those who are not invited will be considered when all interviews are completed. So if interview results are not what adcom were expecting, they will try to interview some more people from the "not invited" pool - Unlikely, but not impossible.
- At this point, you should not keep your hopes very high and focus on other applications. With that said, you can still get invited in later rounds.
- One last point. a 750 and high GPA doesn't mean that you should at least get an interview. There are numerous people on GC with high scores, but limited success. On contrary, there are many people with low scores, but many admits. I think you should really look into your essays and run it by someone who has gone through the process. I am happy to take a look, if you feel comfortable.
