Success Insights

Hi, Everyone,

We are starting a new project called "Success Insights" where current students or alumni share their successful business school application materials like essays, resumes, etc with the prospective applicants in the hope that others benefit from it. We feel it will be immensely helpful to the applicants to read through some of the successful applications/essays to gain insight into what makes an application stand out.

If you are a student or alumnus willing to share your application material for free or for a nominal fee, please comment below and let us know.  You can hide personal details and maintain anonymity.  I can help you in setting up a few things so the applicants can start subscribing to your application materials.

I can share my materials for Yale SOM (USD 50) and INSEAD (USD 25). Got admitted to Yale and Waitlisted (after interview) from INSEAD.

This is a fantastic initiative.

I think the key to its impact is not as templates but takeaways about elements of impactful essays, how to describe personal brand etc. More guidelines than templates.

Templates are incredibly poor for generating unique engaging application essays -- they can seem to speed things up at first, but you quickly end up in someone else's brand framework and the last few iterations can be incredibly slow and painful within those limitations.
