You can aim for Q50, easily.
The main thing is avoiding silly mistakes in easier questions.

Hello,

After completing the OG problems I have taken some GMAT club practice tests. I am wondering if the TYPES of problems I see on these tests are similar to GMAT. Ex: percent of word problems showing up similar to % showing up on real GMAT?

Best,
Michael

According to me, GMAT Club Practice tests are tougher than Actual Test. These questions are similar to GMAT but bit tougher. We can't calculate the percentage of Questions of any topic appearing in real GMAT with GMAT Club Tests because of the adaptive nature of the Test. These tests will prepare you for the hardest questions which you will get in the real test. These tests will help you score Q49+.

I would suggest for RC to really read the passage in 2 minutes no matter how long it is. Maybe 2.5 min for a super long passage or 1.5 for a super short passage but no more than that. This will allow you to get to the question sooner and then dive back into the passage if need be to answer the questions. Also the MOST important part about the passage is knowing the main idea. I believe it is essential to take 10-20 seconds after you read the passsage to think about the main idea, if you know the main idea then you can probably get 2 of the questions right by simply picking the answer that relates back to the main idea.

In terms of CR 700 level questions it’s super important to READ SLOWLY and again think about what the passage is saying after and pick out the conclusion. For assumption questions to negation technique is great and for bold face make sure to look at the non bold parts just before and after the bold to get an idea of what the bold is doing in the passage. CR is a bit of a fickle beast and I would ONLY stick to official questions for CR because some of the questions out there are very poor and can do more harm than good

Hi Michael,

There is no way to predetermine which topics may appear on your GMAT or the question type distribution, and question distributions in practice exams won’t necessarily match the distribution you see on test day. In fact, part of the difficulty of the GMAT is the fact that, even though so few quant questions are asked (only 31), so many concepts can appear. Thus, to be successful on the GMAT, you must know ANY quant topic that could be thrown your way on test day.
